As this small introduction suggests, this is about people who can wield the four original elements (Earth, Fire, Water, and Earth). Political and social unrest starts to unraveled and target these people, considering them as freaks, outcasts, and very dangerous people among themselves. The government starts to brand them in the forehead, a symbol for each element, in order to distinguish them from other people. Later on, the taxes come along, very high taxes. Many of the wielders complain and fight back, enraged because of the government. That's when they start persecuting, hunting, incarcerating, and ultimately, killing them.
Sounds interesting? =)
Ideas and requests for joining are welcomed!
But I'm most definitely interested!
@llmay, don't worry so much about the posting right now, I am not even sure how many chapters i can contribute during week days.
@Colm, welcome! It will be nice to have your contribution.
@Ty694, Well, in Aldara, I don't want anything way too technological, a simple weapon will suffice (swords, knife, not too complicated guns (though I'd like to stay away from them), As for how they are killed, it can be anything. Bounty hunters paid by the government to hunt them down, public killings to discourage any kind of public display of their abilities or to quell ideas of insurgence.
For the prisons, it can be anything, as long as it in-communicates them with their element. Like, you can't use water if there isn't any source of water anywhere close, or dump you in a freezer of kinds if your element is fire, something like that.
There's no electricity, if they're going to travel, it will be with steam (boats or trains). Hmm, well, the rest of the world-building is going to develop later (and maybe you guys can build the world through your chapters too).
I'd like to know who is going to write for male and female characters, I sort of want it to be equal =)
I'll go with whatever will make the number equal (though I'm leaning more for a male character).
Do you also want an equal number of people with elements?
Female: 23 years old
Appearance} Shoulder Length Black Hair: Fair Skin: Brown/red/orange Eyes: 5'7": Clothing Changes from day to day: Always carries a small, brown, over-the shoulder pouch
Element} Earth (also knows Pressure and Reflex points, very agile)
Personality} Quiet but very stubborn at times. Has great intelligence and choses her battles wisely (hence the name).
Is it okay if I make her so that she hasn't been caught and branded by the government yet?
We're four authors right now (but two have not get back to us), if nobody else shows interest then it'll be us four (provided Colm and Ty are going to write too). I don't want to limit the choice of element, so I pretty much leave that open.
By the way, I like your character, especially the fact that she knows pressure and reflexes points :D
She should be very interesting.
Hmmm, there is not going to be much metal in this world (perhaps a little), and no electricity (I can't emphasize on that enough) so they will live by sunlight, moonlight, and candlelight.
Ha yeah, me too, and maybe try to post the intro to the story tonight.
Male: 20 years old
Appearance: 5'9": long, black, messy hair: tanned skin: dark brown eyes: wears a tan shirt and brown pants, and has a stone knife that he is always carrying, as well as a bow and arrow.
Element: Fire
Personality: Hot-tempered and aggressive. More likely to stare a government type in the face than back down and shy away. Will use his knife or bow at the first sign of a threat - hence the name, which may mean "the point of a weapon".
So sorry for the delay, I haven't been on much... but I'll make sure we get writing on this story :D
BTW, llmay, congrats on the Featured Story!
Dawn Adern (Dew)
Age: 19
Appearance: 5'7" , deep blue eyes, hair so dark that seem to have ripples of blue, fair skin. She always ties a clothe or wears something that covers her forehead. Lithe and acrobatic, carries a dagger hidden in her boots for security.
Element: Water
Personality: Usually shy, but independent. She can look after herself and will gladly accept to fight if provoked. Her motto is protect those who cannot protect themselves against the brutality of the ruthless government.
First chapter coming soon, any title suggestions? If not, I will just call it Elemental Wielders, or Element Wielders?
@goblin, of course you can join!
Age: 47
Appearance: Grey-haired, grey eyes, 6', elegant posture. Ragged clothes. Armed with thin willow walking-stick twined with string that easily converts into a longbow (has a quiver of course).
Element: Air
Personality: Mostly quiet, used to being alone. Neither unfriendly nor engaging. Very patient. Well-versed in classical literature and poetry. Most of his characteristics are in his movements; which are both precise and sweeping.
So when the government caught and branded the element wielders they used people called element tamers. They're just regular people and can't control the elements like the wielders can but they can basically tame the elements by using swift movements of their bodies and sometimes even cancel out an element altogether.
The government hasn't had to use them so far but when the wielders start getting rowdy that's where they step in.
It's just an idea but I'll let you guys decide.
