Anyone interested in a steampunk collab?

I have this vision of a colorful, exotic starport, reminicent of India. A 17 year old girl has been "married" since she was 10 and now she is expected to join her "husband" and his family. She doesn't want to. She runs.

I was thinking it would be fun to each have a central character making up the crew of the ship she stows away on. They can each have their own back stories and secrets.

If anyone is interested let me know and we can talk about characters!
Hmm..I like it. But, I leave for camp tommorw and won't be back for a week. Sorry. I would do it though :)
Well, if you'd still like to jump in when you get back, you're welcome to. : )
Ok thanks, but I'll have to post in my other collabs, but I'll wait and see
Seems interesting. So can you give me some more info on what is expected to happen? And a setting?
I've always wanted to do a steampunk collab!
The initial setting is a starport on a distant planet. I imagine most of the story will end up taking place on the space ship.

I will start it out from the girl's POV. She is looking to escape somehow from her very constricting society, so when she sees an opportunity to stow away on a star ship she takes it. Eventually she will be discovered and sort of become part of the crew.

Someone else can write from the captain's POV and elaborate on who he is and why he is in this port, etc. Whoever writes his POV will be in charge of coming up with the character's backstory.

As people join, they can play the crew members of the ship. Everyone will have a secret, but you don't have to reveal it right away.
I'm interested, in fact, count me in. :)
Sounds brilliant. Character bios? Or how do you want to do this?
I dunno whats wanted, so, lets post bios.
Character bios sound good to me... how do we do that? I'm pretty new to the site and there are lots of distracting shiny buttons on here that I don't know how to use yet. : )
This sounds really fun. May I join?
I like this. Mind if I jump in?
Unfortunately, it's not that fancy.
We type in our character biographies here; then you copy-paste them into the authors guidance.
For the bio example:
Name: John smith
Age: 28
Appearance: dark hair, green eyes, fair skin very straight nose. Likes wearing tweed.
Personality & minor background: a bit of a goofball, but he can't standing seeing people get hurt. Kind, smart and very talkative. he travels a lot.

Or something like that. No this isn't my character bio, I'll post that later.
Ok, cool. Whoever wants to join can go ahead and post your bios here, and I will create the story page tonight.
What's our format going to be for bios?
How about;

Name:
Age:
Occupation:
Appearance:
Clothing preferences:
Voice/accent (if applicable):
Skills:
Weapon of choice (if applicable):
Other info:

And you can skip any category if you feel it doesn't apply to your character.
First part is up!

I haven't gotten the plot started quite yet, I thought we might want to set the captain's character up a little before she sneaks onto his ship.
works for me, should there be a writing order?
It's hard to know what the order should be until everybody creates their characters, so I don't know. You (JSimmons) just post whenever you are ready, and maybe by that time we will have it figured out. : )
Name: Indali Bheru-de
Age: About 17
Occupation: Sells newspapers in the city
Appearance: Light brown skin, high cheekbones, large brown eyes. Skinny, looks a few years younger than she is.
Clothing preferences: Pants that are loose and full, coming in at the ankles, a long, close fitting top, scarf around her head, going under her chin. Coordinating, rich colors but no shiny things or jewelry.
Voice/accent (if applicable): Very quiet, lilting voice, but clear. Can be loud when she wishes.
Other info: Was "married" off at age 10 and hasn't seen the boy since then. She will soon be expected to join him and his family and really behave as a married couple. She doesn't find this idea attractive. Keeps begging her father to let her divorce the boy and keep selling newspapers.
