We will choose one of the three choices at the end of each chapter as our main path to follow as the core storyline. That leaves two other paths to be explored. That's where you, the reader comes in. We're asking you to share our addventure by giving us ideas and suggestions on where these two other paths might lead. We'll use as many of your ideas as we can to write up chapters following the two alternate paths. We'll also accept ideas for what three choices to use at the end of those two paths. Any ideas we use will be credited to the authors that suggested them, at the beginning of the chapters.
The characters are :
Jordan (Elorithryn) - She's the spoiled teenage daughter of a wealthy noble. She ran away from an arranged marriage by stowing away on a ship bound for Solaris. She ends up in a prison cell on the wharves, minus most of her memory.
Peyton (Burntree) - He's an adult adventurer and soldier of fortune who was hired by Jordan's father to go out and find her, then bring her home. He follows her to Solaris where he also ends up in a prison cell on the wharves, with a missing memory.
Riley (Moonwalker) - She's a scrappy senior sorceress who was sent after Jordan and Peyton when they didn't show up. Her task is to bring them both home. She also ended up in a prison cell on the wharves with huge gaps in her memory.
Each of us has chosen a main path out of the three choices given at the end. Here they are for the first chapter:
Jordan - Pound on the Door Calling for Room Service
Peyton - Whistle enticingly, to attract that pretty girl's eye
Riley - Conjure up a key to open the door to let you out
Here are the two alternate paths for each character:
Jordan:
- Wait for Breakfast to be Served
- Pry Open the Barred Window and Climb Down
Peyton:
-pick away the rotted mortar about the first rusted window bar.
- go to the cell door, hammer your fist upon it, with a plan to brawl your way past the guard you pity already.
Riley:
-Conjure up a full steak and eggs breakfast
-Scream out the window until someone comes by to shut you up, and you ask him where you are
You can give us your ideas either here in this thread, or in the comments of the story itself. Come one, come all - join us in this awesome addventure!
We no don't mind if you actually write those branches that we don't have time to write. But please, stick to the ones we ask for writers on ONLY, we've got our own brainstorm on where our 'main line' shall go.
Thank You,
:} Elorithryn
Link works from the Author's Guidance... not what I mean to click, but hey a check is always good. *grin* (works from our Brainstroming Thread too) :}
The Story Line So Far
Where my brian tries to organize the whole kit and caboodle of plot. AKA I define which of the three chapters of the characters go together. Remember some of these ought to end in Death, like a proper Choose Your Own Adventure. :}
Sideline Options 2
Peyton - "Brawling out"... & then "I found a key" (both writen by Slip)
Riely - "Scream for attention"
Jordan - "Climb out the Window"
Brainstormin'.../
Pay cheque...oh right, all going to Christmas shoppin' :)
"You jump down and pass the corner with the chamber pot and grab the edge, taking care to keep at least half of the liquid in the bucket and approach the door, kicking a rat who decided to stay instead of vacating with its brothers and sisters. There is no grate or slot for you to peek through so you can only assume a guard is somewhere near the door. You lean as far as you dare into the door without receiving splinters and listen hard.
Minutes pass and you curse each cry of the birds as they could be masking sounds from beyond the door. But after a few more minutes you come to the conclusion that there is either no one just beyond the door or it's too damned thick and you won't ever be able to tell. With a glance back to the pale blue sky past the window bars, you breath in deep and raise a rough fist and bang on the rougher door. As thick as the door is, it still rattled heavily on its hinges. "HEY," you yell, standing back just in case the guard is just beyond the door. The bucket sloshes lightly in your hands."
But I'll let you write as you want. I'm intrigued.
This is exactly what we're looking for. Concise, to the point. visually descriptive. I like it. It's Elorithryn's baby, and Burndtree also has a say, so I think we should wait for their input before we post it. Well done.
Moon
We tototally appreciate your input! :}
Perfect, Sliphknot8302.
Hang on to that bucket a moment :D
I'm going to chat with the ladies. I'll be baack.
We're oping this idea up to everyone (see my Important Update just below Moon's first post). Just be sure you only write the ones we say are open, as we'e got a plan fro where our threads are going to go.
Thanks! :}
Other than those questions, I'm ready.
Well to make it a cohesive whole, you'd really need to do three branches, because the story of the three characters is tied together, though that's not to say one character would end up having an adventure all on her/his own (Payton really seems prime for that actually *grin*). So I guess I'll arbitrate as GM. (I've always wanted to be a game master *giggles*.)
Anyway Slip, the only I'd see you needing to do two things:
1) Tie it directly to the title of the branch you're writing.
Such as: "Deciding to brawl your way out a plan forms in your head."
2) Add line at the very end to allow you to give three choices:
Such as: "As a guard pulls open the barred window on the door you..."
Choice suggestion: "... toss the bucket of piss at his face."
(make sure you give two choices)
That answer your questions?
*giggles* I might have to chart this all out so I can GM properly *grin*
Okay so let me know what branch you'd like to go for next and I'll give you some clues about what the NPCs reactions will be for you to go from. :}
Goodnight.
If you throw the bucket of refuse at him he'll splutter fumbel for keys muttering - that's it Peyton (whcih will ring a bell as to that's your name, bringing back menories of a rectn tavern brawl) and storm in. One Guard isn't a match for him, so you'lll get his sword, but this guard's called for more and they'll be pounding up the stairs to get to you.
Okay, I went off with details a bit more than I should but, I hope it's still helpful. *grins*
