It's just like here, only different.
In the Alternate Universes group, we'll explore strange new worlds that actually have some similarities to our own (well, sometimes). It might be an alternate history, a parallel universe, an altered timeline, another dimension, or even a place we don't recognize at all. What they all have in common is that they're connected to our universe by some kind of portal or mechanism, and our characters start here and end up there.
The literary mechanisms for transporting characters to alternate worlds have been many and varied: Time travel, dreams, comas, wormholes, black holes, magic holes, rabbit holes, enchanted doorways, mirrors, high-tech devices, and the ever-popular conk-on-the-head. One thing's for sure, though. When a character does travel from here to there, all bets are off, and anything can happen.
