Katie Johnson

I yawned loudly, and stretched my whole body. A soft breeze was blowing over me, and I smiled at the peacefulness of it all. Birds were singing ahead, and something soft was tickling my arms, that felt strangely like grass.

Like grass?

I opened my eyes suddenly, and saw that instead of my own room, I was lay in the middle of a huge rain forest. Large trees loomed above me. Peculiar flowers surrounded me, flashing their bright colours. Sounds of different animals were reaching my ears from here there and everywhere.

I stood quickly. How on earth had I landed here? Was this... Was this a dream? I did have strange dreams; it was a possibility.

I wondered to the left of me, nervously. Rain forests were dangerous. Human eating animals roamed these places didn't they? I spun round as I heard a snarl. I couldn't see anything, but I could feel the ground tremble as something was rushing forward.

Without thinking, I legged it as fast as I could. Not looking where I was going, I sped past all the mysterious plants and trees. The animal snarled again, and this time it was closer. My heart was beating hard against my chest, and my breathing was coming out in harsh gasps.

Tears fell from my eyes, blinding me. I slowed and hid quickly behind a tree. I wiped my eyes quickly with the back of my hand. What on earth was going on?

Just when I thought things couldn't get worse, the ground shook violently and a huge crack formed in front of me. I tried to dodge out of the way, but I was too slow.

And then I was falling.

And falling.

It seemed to last an age. I tried to scream but nothing managed to escape my mouth. I tried to scrape onto the sides, but it was no use. Then all of a sudden I stopped.

Just stopped in mid air.

I tried to feel around, and felt my hand on a door handle. This must have been a dream. One minute I'm in a Rain forest, then I'm floating in the air and when things can't get any stranger, I find a door handle?

There was nothing to do but open it. I held my breath as a door swung open, drowning me in light. I nervously stepped forward, and stumbled as the shock of level ground shook my feet.

"Who are you?"

I looked up towards the scared voice, and found myself face to face with a ginger haired girl with a look of terror on her face.

"Kate. Who are you, and where the hell am I?" I stuttered.

She glanced round.

"Penelope and I was just about to ask you the same thing."

The End
