I felt so heavy. Like a huge weight was being pushed onto my hole entire body, or I was sinking low in water and my ears began to hurt. I gasped for breath but the water made me choke. I started coughing. I was drowning. Drowning in water. Drowning in my sorrows.
That was when I woke up.
I jolted upright, sweat broken out across my forehead. I was panting heavily like an angry dog who had met an intruder of it's house. I put my hand to my face and wiped my eyes, breathing out a deep sigh. I looked around.
I was on Jerry's couch, he was asleep beside me looking peaceful, and all of the lights were off. My arm suddenly jerked with pain and I looked down at it, only to find a white bandage around it.
Why was I here? The last time I knew where I was it was the woods. I'd gotten lost and...tripped. I must've banged my head and blacked out, or something.
I pulled my legs off of the couch and slowly stood up, waiting for the blood to flow to the rest of my body as I stood there dizzily. I walked into his kitchen and flicked the light on, sitting down at his table. I heard a noise and my head jerked up quickly to see Jerry's father standing there with a bass ball bat.
"Oh! I thought there was a robber in the house!" he breathed a sigh of relief, dropping the bat. I looked at him confused then smiled, letting him get us both some water as he sat down opposite me. We sat in silence for a while. "Ah look at him, so tired. He's been watching you for the past 2 days." he nodded once in the direction of Jerry. I looked at my water, feeling sorry for him.
"He really cares about you you know. But you both are so clumsy. He's like his mother." he chuckled, taking a sip of his drink.
"Umm...Terry, I'd just like to apologise if I've done anything to hurt Jerry in the past. Why he slit his throat, why he was so upset. Everything. I'm so so sorry." I looked down, ashamed of myself.
"Don't be sorry Eleanor. He just cares about you thats all." he put his drink in the sink and picked up his bat, walking up the stairs, "You know. You remind me of someone..." he shook his head and went to bed, leaving me alone in his desolate kitchen.
