Ellie: Stop Making This So Complicated!

The Next Day

I hadn't been speaking to Jerry, not after our petty argument a few nights ago. I felt so pathetic, but truthfully I was being used. Ethan caught me sitting alone at lunch in the woods again. What was he doing here?

I looked up as he stood there awkwardly, "Hi..." I said quietly, he didn't reply, he just sat down next to me. He didn't have any lunch with him, only a small bottle of oasis. I smiled in pity and packed away my lunch, slumping back against the tree with a sigh. He looked down at me.

"So, why are you here?" Ethan asked after the long pause.

"I could ask you the same question." I smiled, putting my head on his arm. I felt him flinch, but then become softer.

"I come here sometimes."

"So do I." I replied, standing up.

"Where are you going?"he asked.

"Class. Lunch is over," I laughed, hiding how upset I was about Jerry.

"Want me to walk you?" he smiled. I looked behind me then back to him, he'd stood up. I shook my head.

"Sure," would Jerry be angry about this? No. Ethan was only walking me to class.

We caught sight of Jerry walking alone in the halls, and it had to be at that point that Ethans hand was on the small of my back. I shifted away, out of his reach and walked into Latin, giving him a nod on the way.

I saw the way Ethan looked at me, like he'd lost someone. He looked so torn. I paused at the door after it closed behind me in shock.

He killed Ally Prior. He killed her.
