That Phone Call - Jerry

After the science lesson, the rest of the school day was uniteresting.
But when I got home, I finally plucked up the courage to call Ally.
My parents were out, as they always were when I got home. They wouldn't be back for ages yet. They are always working, and I hardly ever see them.
I was silently debating within myself, whether I should call her or not.
My insides were churning, and I was terrified.
Could I do it?
I'd start off with a joke, comment or two about school, ask her if she is ok, then I'd say what's on my mind.
But could I do it?
I guess that I would find out.
I walked over to the phone, and reached out to pick it up.
I waited a few seconds.
"I can't do it!" I said to myself, and I half walked, half ran away and jumped on the sofa. I put my head in my hands.
"Come on, pull yourself together, Jerry."
I got up.
"Here we go." I took a deep breath in.
I picked the phone up, and typed in the oh so familiar number.
Ring ring.
I started to panic, I had no idea what I was going to say!
Stifling the panic, I closed my eyes, and waited.
Ring ring.
Here we go.
"Hello?" I heard Ally say.
"Hai" I said in my stupid voice. "I know where you live"
"Yeah, you got it." In my normal voice.
"Oh hi!" She exclaims.
"You ok? That was really weird this morning!"
"Yeah, I know! So anyway, how are things your end"
I quickly ran into the kitchen, still holding the phone.
"They're good"
I threw a saucepan at the radiator, down the hall. There was a massive crash.
"What was that?!" Ally said, shocked.
"The cat." I said. Ally giggled.
"No seriously, what was it?"
"Umm, me throwing a saucepan at a radiator?" I said.
She laughed.
Ok, here we go. Do it now Jerry.
"So, uh, there's something that I have been meaning to tell you." I said, nervously. I raised my hand to head height. It was shaking.
"Go on then," Said Ally curiously
"Well." I sighed. "I really don't know how to say this but..." I trailed off.
"Spit it out, man" Ally said in a manly voice, imitating one of my jokes.
I smiled.
"I like you, I mean like, really really like you. There I said it."
There was a pause.
"I just had to tell you that." I said.
"Ok." She replied.
Well, I had done it. I had set it off. All I could do now, was watch as my words changed things.
"I need a bit of time to think about that Jerry." She said. "I'll see you at school tommorow."
"See you then."
"Bye." and she hang up.
I put the phone down quietly. I sighed deeply.
"See you at school tommorow then." I said to no one in particular, and I went upstairs, to lie on my bed, and stare at the ceiling.
Weirdly enough, even after that phone call, I found myself thinking of Ethan. I wonder what he was doing now.

The End
