Asha: Visitors

I don't normally sleep but I could feel Jay drifting off, holding me close still. I let myself follow him into dreams.

A voice whispers to me, inviting me to follow. I obey, knowing as only dreamers do that the voice is to be trusted. Finding a clearing, Jay is standing there. He smiles, holding out his arms to me.

"You're safe now." he says, but his voice is wrong, distorted and hissing. His arms get too tight around me, and I turn. His perfect face is gone, warped into demonic features. Another comes out of the bushes in front of me. IThey laugh and I scream, lashing out to break free.

“NO!”

The shout wrenched me from the nightmare, which had followed me it seemed. The demon from my dreams was poised over me and Jay, who had also woken up. I screamed lashing out at it. Another demon demon landed on Sylvester, who had shouted and tore through his shirt, leaving a gash in my shoulder. I screamed again, getting out the way as the demon attacked Jay. I searched around for some kind of weapon, since without one, I would do more harm.

All I cloud see were the two men I loved the most fighting those things.

I am never going anywhere unarmed again. I vowed.

There was a burst of white light from where Sylvester was standing. His demon had vanished. There was a moment of silence, and the demon attacking Jay fled through the window.

You will regret that. Next time I will be ready for you. No one was going to attack anyone I loved and get away with it.

Jay looked over at me. Are you okay?

I'm fine. More worried about you..

I went over and put my arm around Jay. We both looked at Sylvester, who cleared his throat awkwardly.

"I think you just had your first visitor there Kyoshiro." he laughed.

At that point, Aria burst into the room.

"What happened?! Someone was screamin'.."

"We had some uninvited visitors." I replied.

She galnced at him.

Go with her I said to him mentally, smiling a little.

"I'm ok" he said, before Aria could start fussing. "We'll go and leave the lovebirds to it."

I raised an eyebrow at him. Which pair of lovebirds are you referring to? From where I'm standing looks like I'm the engaged one, and you're denying you want her...

He didn't reply to me, but left the room with Aria, who had started acting all protective of him.

"Are you ok?" I murmured softly as soon as we were alone.

Jay nodded "Nothing too serious. Just a few scratches. Are you ok?" He looked at me anxiously.

"It didn't touch me." I replied, feeling put out. "But I swear, I will not let anything hurt you." I kissed him lightly "I couldn't bear it if I lost you."

He rested his forehead on mine. "I will never leave you."

I smiled "We are a team. Sometimes, you're going to have to let me fight, Jay. I will not stand by the side next time. I will be fighting right by your side. No one hurts the people I love and gets away with it. Anyone going for you will have to get through me first." I spoke softly, but fiercely too.

"And the same here. I will not let anyone hurt you as long as there is something I can do about it. I am not going to loose you a second time." Jay's voice held a trace of pain when he said that. I loved him all the more and hugged him tightly.

"I promise I will never leave you."

Jay didn't reply, instead just kissing me. I kissed him back, knowing that he was going to stand by my side enough of a promise to withstand anything. When he spoke again, his words meant more to me than anything.

"I love you, Asha."

"I love you too Jay."

I had never meant those words more than I did now.

The End
