I walked towards my flat. It wasn't too much farther, but my feet were killing me. My damn skaters were wet from the rain the day before, and I had to wear these feet killers, fantastic. I took off my shoes and rubbed my right foot with my left hand while holding my shoes in my right. That feels better I thought.
"Excuse me!" I turned to see a familiar looking girl running towards me, although in this light, it was hard to tell. "Hey!"
"What do you want?" I snapped, coming out sharper than I'd intended.
"I just recognised you from the club, thought-"
"So you recognised me and then followed me" I replied. Stalk much? I thought.
"Well... yeah. I suppose if you look at it that way." she smiled at me and I turned and went up the stairs to my flat. "I'm sorry if I gave you the wrong impression!" she called.
"What?" I replied.
"Come down and I'll tell you." I sighed and came back down the stairs, "He's my brother."
"Excuse me?" my eyes widened. So she was from the club. She saw me looking at her brother?
"Keith. He's my brother." she said.
"Who the hell is Keith?!" I asked, waving my left hand, trying to look like I had no clue what she was talking about.
"Oh come on dear, your only human. I saw you checking him out." she smiled at me. "Tia by the way." She held out her hand for me to shake, but I was too busy processing this. "You generally shake it when you meet someone new." I stood stark still, but I felt her grab my hand to shake it, and I relazed.
"Mel" I replied. Then, I felt a tugging sensation in my brain. Woah I thought. I looked at the girls face and saw her eyes staring at me, wide. Her mouth was slightly open like she was about to say something, but I couldn't tell what it was. "Sorry, for the rudeness earlier," I said. "Do you need a ride home, or do you live close?"
She looked at me for acouple more seconds before answering. "A ride would be great," she said monotonously.
I told her to wait there while I walked around the the back of the flats and drove out in my little green Nissan Cube. I pretended to reach over and open the dor, but I just pointed at it.
"Hop in!" I called, and she did so.
The ride was silent except for a few directions she gave me. When we neared her house, she looked at me, turned in her seat and opened her mouth to speak, then closed it again.
"Yes?" I asked, trying not to push too hard.
"I . . . well," she said, "Show me."
"What?" I replied.
"Show me! I saw you in the alley, is it true?" she said.
"The all-" I stopped. She saw me moving the trash! SHIT! I thought.
"Don't worry," she said, "Mel Dempsey."
"How do you know my name?"
"I'm like you," she said, "Immortal, psychic. Although you haven't been the first one for long, have you?"
"Two years," I whispered. Then I reached my right hand behind me and twisted my wrist, pulling a water bottle out of the trunk and bringing it to the front. It floated in between myself and Tia.
"Woah," she said. I pointed out the front window, slowing down. Pointing at one of the mpty cars, I concentrated and laid my palm flat and facing up, as if I was carrying the car. I lifted my hand slightly, and the car lifted as well.
"WOAH!" she said. "You're strong,"
"Yeah . . ." I replied, drawing it out as I pulled into her driveway. The guy from the club was just walking up to her house.
"You uh, want to come in?" she asked, "Maybe show Keith some of your moves?"
"Um. . . "I thought, did I have anything better to do? Not really, "Sure." I replied with a smile, stepping out of the car and locking it behind me.
"Keith, this is Mel," said Tia, "Mel, Keith,"
I smiled at him and felt my face heat up, "Hi," I said, trying to sound confident.
"Hey," he replied, smiling. His teeth were perfect and white. He took my hand and kissed the top of it. Pure desire ran through my body and I saw his smile waver slightly on his face, but he quickly re-gained his focus. A small shiver went down my back as he let go of my hand, which was suddenly alot colder.
"Come on Mel, come show Keith your moves!" He looked at me, cocking one eyebrow. I smiled back and winked at him. Wait, I winked? I didn't wink at boys! What was I doing!? I followed Keith and Tia into their house. You could tell they were close. She opened the door to a really nice looking place. Not too big, but big enough, and all nice modern furniture.
I whistled, "Nice place," I said. Tia looked at me and made a motion with her hands that mimicked what I did to move stuff. Keith looked at her but she quickly put down her hand. "Oh! Right!" I said. Keith looked back at me and I pointed at their flat screen TV. He looked at it. I lifted my finger, and the Tv lifted. I moved it towards me and it moved off the shelf. Keith gasped and ran towards it.
"Don't touch it!" yelled Tia. She looked at me and told me to do more. Keith gaped at the TV, then at me. I put it back and focused on the couch.
"Sit on the couch," I said to Keith and Tia. They did so and I walked around into the family room. I stuck out my right hand, my stronger telekinetic one, and lifted the couch with both of them on it. Tia let out a little squeal and so did Keith. I laughed, but my concentration didn't waver. I twisted the couch sideways, and then the other way. The entire time Keith stared at me.
"She's one of us!" yelled Tia, when I'd put the couch down. Keith stood up, making sure his feet were ont he ground.
"Don't worry, I don't think I can lift people. At least, I never tried," I lifted my hand and he sat back down on the couch. Tia and I laughed and he eventually joined in.
"Want a drink?" he offered, going into the kitchen.
"Uh, sure, Iced tea?" I asked.
"Yuppers!" replied Tia, following him in.
"So, where are you guys from?" I asked, going onto the couch that had been floating a couple seconds before and facing them in the kitchen.
