That was it. I had had enough.
I stormed out into the main area of the warehouse and grabbed Markus. Ignoring his protests, I dragged him outside. I was surprised by my strength, although not surprised by the anger that fuelled it.
I pulled out the pendulum from a pocket and started swinging it from side to side in front of Markus' face. His eyes followed it but when I said "You're now under my power", he shook his head, blinking and looked at me angrily.
"No, I'm not. And you're a freak. I'm going to tell Terry about your pendulum. He won't like you causing all this trouble behind his back."
Damn, what was I going to do?
To my immense luck, Delia appeared.
"What's going on?" she asked.
"I tried to hypnotise Markus but it didn't work. He's going to tell Terry. Please: you have to stop him."
"I said I wouldn't, Tabitha."
"Do you want Terry to confiscate our only means of survival?"
Markus was beginning to sneak off. Delia grabbed him and held him tightly.
"No," she replied, "but..."
I looked at her pleadingly. "If I can work out how to use it, you won't ever need to hypnotise someone again."
She sighed, defeated. "Okay then. But this is the only time I'll do it. You better be more careful next time."
Markus struggled more, evidently realising what was going to happen.
Delia waved a hand in front of his face and he passed out.
"When he wakes up, he won't remember a thing," she muttered.
She carried him indoors and dumped him ona sofa.
Then she went over to Darrius for a comfort snog.
I envied her way of escaping this awful nightmare. I looked over at Ryan, who was lying passed out on another sofa.
I shook my head to myself and went to sit on a vacant sofa, starting to consider my second attempt at rescuing us.
