The Confession

"Girl, you know you gone havta get a handle on yourself."

"Do I? I mean, really, how many time you seen me happy this year?"

"Well, it depend. Cause I saw you pretty doggone happy when you was doing the hoochie coochie with my brother last weekend."

"I know you aint say that. You think this 'bout your brother? This aint got nothin' to do with your brother."

"Well, who then? Girl, you better start talkin' cause I aint playin'."

"Playin'? I ain't playin neither. You don't know him. He from up river."

"Up river? Is you stupid? They say them boys is nothing but bad. Who he is?"

"James. James Johnson. He a mason, do a little shine business on the side."

"You have lost your mind. And I guess that account for those circles you got under your eyes. You losin' sleep cause you in lust or 'cause you aint stop worryin'. He aint got you runnin' for him, do he?"

"Runnin'?"

"He do. I can see it in you eyes. Oh girl, you can't hide that from me. You a fool, and he laughin' at you. Got you hexed."
