I quickly followed Denver out the door. With a fluid movement I moved beside him and lent him support as he attempted to stumble out of the hospital. The nurse gave us a dirty look but I stopped her before she could say anything.
"He's fine, he doesn't need to stay anymore, and we have some big problems at home we need to deal with."
The nurse hesitated for a little bit before letting us by with Fern trailing a little behind. "Hey guys," Fern called to us as we exited the hospital, "my guardian could give us a ride if we wanted one."
I nodded to him, "Sure, that sounds like a great idea!" I replied with a thumbs up and a grin.
Fern turned and spoke quickly to his guardian. It wasn't long before we were pulling up in front of the dentist's office. Denver tried to just storm right in but I pulled him back. "What good do you think just waltzing in there and letting him know we are here is going to do Denver?" I demanded of him before he could do more than give me a dirty look.
"Well then what would you have us do?" Denver demanded.
"I don't know yet, let me think."
Denver sighed exasperatedly and I glared at him, "Did you have a plan for after you just waltzed in there?" I asked,
"Well...no," Denver replied sheepishly.
"That's what I thought," I replied haughtily and went back to brainstorming what to do. We could just sit in wait for him to come out and then tackle him and tie him up somewhere. But what good would that do, we couldn't keep him very long, he would die of starvation or thirst before all this was over. If indeed it ever was going to be over. Finally I decided we could just knock him out and leave him somewhere far away where he would not be able to know our location. Then what would he tell them, that we escaped? If they didn't know that already then maybe we wouldnt have a problem after all.
"Okay, so here's what we're going to do," I began to explain the plan to Denver.
