Denver: China

I burst out laughing. "Fern? Girlfriend? Since when did that happen? And besides, I thought he was taken, with the whole braid thing he has going on. Unless you two…"

Yeah, sometimes I don't know when to shut up.

I saw Aya's blush, and the look on Fern's face, and realized that I was way off. I cleared my throat.

"So, um, what's going on, guys?"

Owen laughed beside me. I grinned.

"Sorry for that. Sometimes I'm a little too analytical about things, ask Owen. One time I met a girl named China and was wondering how an entire country could be inside on girl."

Owen rolled his eyes, obviously also remembering the moment.

"Yeah, Mr. Smart Alec here kept poking her and asking if she spoke Chinese, and how she herself made everything, cause everything is made in China. The girl just stared at him, not quite sure how to reply." Owen continued the story.

Everyone was laughing by that point. I grinned.

"So you see, sometimes I make wrong assumptions. I didn't mean anything by it, guys. So, Fern, who's this?"

Before I could be a reply, my cell phone rang. "Oh, hold on, sorry."

I pulled it out, and smiled upon recognizing Cindy's number.

"Hey, babe. Miss me already?"

"Hi Denver. I have a little, um, problem." I could hear the sorry in her voice. I immediately sat up, causing a shooting pain to go through my side.

"What? What's going on?" I asked, frantic. She told me about the guy at he dentists office and asked me to tell the others. I nodded and hung up. Immediately, I swiveled and sling my feet over the side of the bed.

"Ow!" I cried, biting down hard. "Stupid glass."

Owen stood up. "Dude, what are you doing? You're just going to hurt yourself more, and then Cindy would kill me."

"Yeah, well, I'm trying to go rescue Cindy, so…" Taking a deep breath, I stood up and headed towards the door. Owen was right behind me, a worried look on his face.

"Denver, I don't think this is a good idea…"

I turned to him, refusing to let the pain show. I told him exactly what Cindy told me. "I have to do something." I said. I looked at the others in the room. "We all do. I don't care if I'm given permission to leave this hospital or not, there is no way I will have any chance of getting captured again, and this man is in the way of that. So I'm going to do something. I don't care if any of you come or not, though I would like it a lot, considering I don't even have a plan yet."

With that, I turned again and headed out the door.

The End
