Well, Technically...

Wow. Alex actually said sorry? That's a surprise.

I coughed uncomfortably.

"What?" He asked, seeming apprehensive.

Looking up at him, I saw his blue eyes, with just the tiniest hint of red around the edges, staring down at me.

"Will my eyes be a different colour to yours, because I don't drink human blood?" I blurted out unthinkingly. I knew, deep down, that it was my own way of avoiding what needs to be said. Jesse had been ordered to 'tutor' me.

His worried features relaxed into a smile and he laughed a little.

"Does this mean I'm forgiven?" He ducked his head down a bit so that his eyes were level with mine. "And no, your eyes will be red."

I smiled at him, though I knew the worst wasn't yet over.

"Aww crap." I muttered, mostly for his benefit. I looked down at my hands. "I was hoping to have something cool like, I don't know... purple." I giggled. "Or Golden."

He laughed at that, throwing his head back in exuberance.

"Sorry, you won't ever sparkle either."

I mocked sighed then, acting all depressed.

"It's a shame your not a real vampire." But then I failed completely at keeping a straight face and burst into laughter.

He scowled at me playfully, and I decided against telling him about Jesse being forced to be my mentor. He seemed happy right now, and I didn't want to hurt him.
