"Spirits, ghosts. I can see them and I can talk to them."
The voice drifted down the bus from the girl who'd just got on. That had surprised me - that someone had got on the bus, I mean. We haven't had any newcomers in a while. Other than Alec and Celeste, of course.
That she could see ghosts interested me - apparently there's another human here who can do the same thing as me. Well, technically, I'm not a human anymore, but that's not the point.
I schooched past Jesse and walked up the bus, sitting on the same row as Raven and the new girl, but across the aisle.
I cleared my throat to get their attention, and they both looked at me in surprise, The human's face tears-stained.
"I hear you can speak to ghosts." She nodded slightly, wary. "Me too."
This seemed to worry her a little. I guess she doesn't know there are others like her. Or used to be like her.
"Oh, and, by the way, you smell really good." I sniffed the air, trying to give her an idea of the creatures on this bus. "What's your name?" I asked her, a little more friendly this time.
"Isa." She replied shyly.
"Okay, Isa, I'm officially declaring myself as 'The Girl Who Warns All The Newcomers'." Raven raised her eyebrow slightly, but I carried on. "This bus is weird. If you can't handle weird, get out now. You may find that it's very hard to leave."
And with that, I stood up and went to sit by Jesse again.
