She went down the aisle back to where Gabby and Alex sat. Gabby was on the aisle side of the seat. She was leaning back with her eyes closed. Jayden leaned over and tapped her on the shoulder and spoke into her ear.
"Miss miss, can I speak to you please? It's important."
Gabby wasn't sleeping, she was just trying to come up with a way to ask Alex to give her what she really wanted.. a life with him forever. Gabby turned toward Jayden.
Jayden handed her the rabbit's foot, and asked her to give it to her seat mate.
"Please ask your friend to go into the bathroom, and lock the door. When I see that he's in there, I'm going to turn this foot into a real rabbit. The only thing I ask is that he feeds over the toilet, and he cleans up any residue. The kids on this bus are mostly lackers, and if one of them sees a lot of blood, there's going to be a great deal of screaming. The escort up there might have to come back to investigate. I know you don't want that to happen."
Gabby was stunned to find out that this young girl knew exactly what Alex was, if not who he was. Alex remained quiet during the whole thing. He had seen her turn into a rabbit and back again, so he knew she was magic. She probably knew that he could hear her entire conversation with gabby with his sensitive hearing. Speaking to Gabby was much more discreet than asking Gabby to move so she could talk to Alex.He took the rabbit's foot that Gabby handed him without comment.
Jayden went back one seat where Lilith sat at the window, dejectedly looking out at nothing. She had returned entirely to her human self. Jayden put one knee up on Lillith's seat and stretched her hand out, with the rabbit's foot in it. She motioned for Lillith to lean forward. Lillith did so, more out of curiosity than anything else. she had heard the conversation that Jayden had just had with Gabby, but she didn't know that she was going to receive the same offer.
Jayden told Lillith the exact same thing she had told Gabby. Lillith took the rabbit's foot and stared at it for a moment. She let Jayden's offer sink in. Then she smiled and nodded. Jayden returned to her seat.
She unceremoniously shoved her little brother's feet over so that she could get back into her seat by the window .He muttered in protest, but let her slide past him. She had a good view of the bathroom, on a diagonal line of sight.
She watched Alex go into the bathroom and close the door. Jayden concentrated on him, and chanted a spell under her breath. She had no way of knowing whether it worked or not. She was running out of breath, so she stopped for a moment and waited. She didn't know whether to try again or not, but it turned out she didn't have to. Alex came out of the bathroom smiling. He didn't look upset or hungry anymore.
As he passed Lillith on the way to his seat, he grinned at her and winked. She got up immediately and went to the bathroom. When the door was closed, Jayden concentrated and chanted the spell again. After awhile, Lillith came out smiling the same way Alex had.
When she got into her seat, she tapped Alex on the shoulder, and said something to him. Alex handed something to her, and she got out of her seat. She walked to the empty seat behind Jayden, who had been watching her come toward their seat. She handed something to Jayden.
"Thanks so much. You have no idea how badly we needed those rabbits."
"I'm guessing pretty badly. That's why I did ... umm.. what I did,"
Jayden said shyly as she blushed. She was still uncomfortable about using magic in public. It was hard for her to admit to it.
Lillith thanked Jayden again, and returned to her seat. Jayden looked down at what Lillith had given her. They were the two key chains that she had given Alex and Lillith. They each had a brand new cleaned rabbit's foot on it.
She looked up to see Alex and Lillith watching her expectantly to see if Jayden accepted them, or if she was grossed out by them. She smiled and waved at the vampire and the werewolf, then turned back around in her seat, with a big smile on her face. She handed Taylor his new key chain. He accepted it, and gazed at it, also with a big grin on his face. They both set about putting their keys back on their key chains.
