Back on the Bus

Mike and I help Gloria down from the bus. She is nearly knocked over by an eager boy. I frown. at least his sister has more sense. I think they are siblings. I never had any, mom’s marriage to George being the shame it was. I think Grandma had been right. Mom should have stayed with Mike, um, Dad.

I give Gloria a hug, running my hand down her spine. I hope that helps with her labor pains. Now that I know that I’m magic I think I know what to do with it. Kinda. For all I know what I just did, did nothing. Well at least it wouldn’t have made things worse.

I board the bus with Mike, erm, dad. I really don’t know what to call him.

“Hey,” I manage to look at him. “Do you mind if we sit in Row 2?”

He looks at me puzzled at first and then, “Sure.”

“Thanks,” I smile shyly and continue on back to get my book bag.

The kids have settled in front of the angel. I blink. Angel? Well she does have wings and she looks as perfect as any super model. I guess she could be an angel. I wonder if there is such a thing. But given that we have a vampire and werewolf and aliens on board, it’s not out of the realm of possibilities.

I walk back up the aisle. I smile. Mike, dad, lets me scoot in to sit by the window. I look out. Gloria’s already been speed away be her Aunt and Uncle. I touch the note she gave me and smile.

I look at my real father. Had I know when he first got on the bus? Is that why I had wanted him to sit next to me? I laugh just slightly. It’s funny how life works sometimes.
