Desideria - The Truth Comes Out

I stood on the grass in the meadow next to the little cabin I lived in with Xanthias, my guardian. All around me the green grass swayed in the breeze every where except where I stood. Where I stood the grass was brown and dead.

I had asked Xanthias why the plants died when ever I touch them but he told me not to worry about it. I couldn't even touch him without harming him. So I stayed away from crowded areas in the Seventh Kingdom. This was probably why my birth parents had given me away.

According to Xathias my parents had been scared of what I could do. Him being a Minor Wizard made them trust that I could be left with him. I hated my parents because of that. Weren't parents supposed to love you no matter what? If that was the case then my parents weren't true parents.

"Ria!" I heard Xanthias call from the cabin. Turning, I began to walk in that direction. When I arrived at the cabin Xanthias was standing in the doorway. His face was a little troubled but he smiled at me as I stopped in from of him. He gestured me inside.

"What is it?" I asked, taking off my cloak after he had shut the door. He sighed a little as he sat down on a chair.

"I think it's time I was truthful with you." he said, guiltily. I spun around to face him.

"What?" I said, unsure if I had heard him correctly.

"Your parents were never scared of you infact they had died in a fire right after you were born. You had been sent to the orphanage in the Second Kingdom." he said not meeting my eyes. "You have been given amazing power. From that orphanage the Death Sage chose you and made you apart of his ward. His heir."

"Whoa hang on there a minute." I said before he could say anymore. "So your saying that that's the reason why I can't walk on the grass without killing it? Because the bad guy from history claimed me as his own?" Xanthias nodded, saddly "I don't believe this! How long have you known?"

"Since the Sages entrusted you to me." he said, finally meeting my eyes. "They told me to keep it a secret until the time was right. The time is right and you need to find the other Sages." I was still trying to process all of this in my head and suddenly he tells me I have to go find the other Sages?

"This isn't some kind of joke right? Because if you're trying to be funny it isn't working." I said giving him a hard stare.

"I'm not joking. There is one Sage in each of the remaining seven kingdoms. This is your destiny Ria." Finally I decided that I believed him even if I wasn't too happy about it.

"Alright." I said after a minute "I'll go find the others but how will I know it's them? Plus if you don't remember I'm a bit anti-social when it comes to other people."

"You'll know it."

Oh yippee. Some help you are Xathias, I thought I'm going to get myself killed trying to find them. This had better be worth it.

With that Xanthias and I packed some supplies and I was off to the kingdom closest to me. The Eighth Kingdom.

The End
