Brandon: What does Stacey have to do with all this?Mature

I gave Levi another Magic note today at school. He gave me a funny look when I gave it to him. At the time I thought the funny look was because I gave him the note at his locker. I have never given it to him there. But, now that I think about it, the look was different than that. It was almost like he was trying to tell me something. Oh, it doesn’t matter. I’ll ask him when I see him at his house this afternoon.

“Why did you give me another note?” Levi asked as I walked into his room. I wouldn’t say we have a friendship. In fact, I work really hard to hide that we have anything, but he usually isn’t like that.

“Because I wanted to play Magic again.”

“Well, you are going to get me in trouble.”

“If anyone ever finds out about this, it won’t be you getting into trouble. It will be me.”

As soon as I said that, Levi started jumping up and down. “I knew you did it. I just knew it.”

 “What are you talking about?”

He stopped jumping. Instead, he started pointing at me. “Oh, you know what I am talking about.” My dumbfounded expression told him I didn’t. He stopped pointing at me. He lowered his hand and had a confused look on his face. “You really don’t know what I am talking about, do you?”

“Not a clue!” I declared. “I will get into trouble if anyone ever finds out that you and me are friends … or whatever we are.”

“So, you didn’t kill Aubrey?” Now, that was the second time this week that someone accused me of murdering Aubrey.

“No,” I replied quickly. Then, I added, “Well, I don’t think so, anyway. I don’t remember.”

“What do you mean you don’t remember?”

“She was murdered Saturday, right?” After he nodded, I continued, “That was the night of the party. The last thing I remember is going to the party and seeing Aubrey. After that, it is all blank.”

“Well, if you ask me,” Levi stated, “it was either you or that girlfriend of yours.”

“What does Stacey have to do with any of this?”

“Man, you may not see it, but she is such a …”  He knew how he wanted to finish that sentence, but he seemed to be afraid. So, I made a face that told him to go on. “She’s such a slut!”

The End
