Rose was everything I could think of, she was everything for me.
I was dumbstruck and stunned by Rose behaviour, even shocked. Waves of gratitude and love overwhelmed my heart as the delicate creature lay her head on my shoulder. I lift a hand and gently stroke her dark hair. We were alone in the garden now, the stars were showering us with their light and blessings.
Rose lift her face and looks at my face, her eyes were glimmering and filled with stars. Her lips were a tempting, before anybody could speak I bent down and placed a light kiss on her lips, then moved on to her cheek and down to her neck. I inhaled her sweet scent, wanting much more from her.
"Thank you Rose," I slid my hands around her waist and pull her body to me.
"Prove you are worthy," she whispered, wrapping her arms around my neck. "I entrust you my heart, please don't give it back in pieces..."
"Never," I said with a determined voice. "Never will I hurt you."
"Come inside, William," her voice was velvet and soft, "let's enjoy the rest of the ball." Our bodies parted, she took my hand and led me back to the manor. This time we entered the manor together, holding hands. Some of the older people gasped indiscreetly but we ignored them. I swept Rose in my arms and whirled her graceful body around the dance floor.
From the corner of my eyes I could watch Lord Well glowering at me and Charles was staring at us with sadness in his eyes. Rose cousins were standing horror-strike and transfixed in their place at the far end of the room.
"If it applies," I said trying to sound conversational, "I am sorry for these past two years, for everything I did to hurt you. In the end, it was all intended to have you in my arms..."
Rose laugh, a melodious sound to my ears. "I am sorry, too," she said. I half-hoped she would tell me what had happened between us the last two years. "I am sorry for slapping you." There was a mocking smile in her lovely face.
I grinned, I guess she was as clueless as I was. "Let's start over again," I told her, bending down and pressing my lips to her forehead.
She rested her head on my shoulder, "I would love that..."
In the ballroom, nobody was certain of how to react. They were aghast when they saw us giving affection to one another. Lord Well had stormed out of the ballroom with Charles and Rose cousins trailing close behind him.
After enjoying our dance and talking to our closest friends who approved of our relationship, we retired to our room. I escorted Rose to her room, walking the well-known path to her bedroom. Upon reaching it she turned the knob open, I stood outside on the hallway, waiting for her night kiss.
"What are you waiting for?" she asked, a taunting smile on her lips, "are you waiting for an invitation to come in?"
This was the second time she surprised me. I softened my shocked expression, giving her a warm smile. "Am I allow to cross beyond the point tonight?"
"What point?" she smiled, lighting up her eyes. She reached out for my hand and pulled me inside her bedroom. Rose was everywhere in here.
I placed my hand on her waist and kissed her passionately. She wrapped her arms around my neck, pressing her body close to me. Our lips were strong on each other, breathless as we kissed in the moonlit room.
My hands inched upward to her corset, playing with the laces, untying them.
Rose placed a hand on my cheek and parted from my lips, "William," she breathed sweetly, "please, not tonight. I am not ready..." She embraced me in a tight, warm hug, snuggling her head on my neck, "I just want you to hold me in my sleep."
I returned her tight embrace, holding her close to me. "I will."
That night we cuddled together in Rose's bed, my arms selfishly around her. I watched her sleep and I wished I could wake up everyday and have her by my side.
