Gwendolyn jumped in and stepped in between the statue and Thomas, and spoke. "Destroy the other statues, now!"
The statue suddenly turned on its friends and began to beat the crap out of it, but Gwendolyn felt woozy after doing it. She wasn't used to performing it on statues, but as long as it had eyes, even carved ones, then her magic would work... still, she knew that was a limitation that would eventually be overcome.
She turned to Thomas and smiled. "You alright?"
"Yeah, I'm fine... I honestly wasn't expecting this..." He said, recovering from the sudden fright. "Gwendolyn, you look tired. What's wrong?"
"My Command magic is very taxing on the body after a while. I don't know if I can continue using it in this condition." She responded.
Up at the entrance, watching the proceeding, was Daedalus Arkham, Magister in charge of Zazamanc Palace and Head of the R&D department of the magistrate. He stared down at the sudden disturbance with some disdain, but nonetheless remained smiling.
"Well, well, looks like the traitor's friends are here to save him, too bad that their effort is in vain since he escaped. How very sad..." He seemed to enjoy watching them work so hard to get to his castle, and it amused him.
Then he began to look at each of them in turn with an eerie intent behind his glasses. And when he spotted Gwendolyn, he started giggling uncontrollably.
"Oh, my sweet little guinea pig has returned to me! Oh, I can't wait to open her up again! Wonder how well her organs function once we shoot ice in her this time? The lightning magic was incredibly successful, and I was even able to obtain both some blood and some urine from her... oh, how much I learned from that finding! I know how her magic works! Gya ha ha haaaa!"
He smiled ear to ear, and it was truly an eerie sight. "Time to greet our guests! Could someone get me my smock?"
