Jasper entered the dining hall, his eyes scanning for one face. There she was, sitting with Zane at a table, her bright eyes wide as she enjoyed the food that had been served to her. As he got his food from the line he walked purposefully toward that table, carefully avoiding Zane's line of sight.

"You look like you needed that." Jasper said quietly in her ear, she turned in surprise to watch him as he moved around the table to sit across from her.
After he was seated, he turned to Zane.

"Has he seen her yet?" Jasper asked.

"No. That's the next stop on the tour."

"This isn't some fun activity Zane. This is your punishment."

"Yeah I know. But it's not so bad. You're not so bad." Zane smiled at the girl. Jasper gritted his teeth. Flirting. There were more important things to do.

Jasper forced down a few bites of the stew, which, he had to admit was better than usual, before looking at Zane, who was constantly switching between glaring at Jasper, and smiling at the girl.

"I dont think I ever caught your name." Jasper said, trying to be polite.

"Layla." The girl said.

"Beautiful name." Jasper said. Great, now he was flirting, time to stop. "Well, nice to properly meet you, Layla, but there's no rest for the weary, and I need to get back to the tunnels."

"Bye Jasper." Zane said, obviously happy to see him go. Jasper didnt look at him, only Layla, then quickly spun on his heel and left, his bread clutched so hard in his fist, if it could talk, the grains would have been screaming.

Layla was very attractive, Jasper admitted, but he needed to focus on the safety of the resistance, not some girl that had stumbled into the camp.

The End
