Sola: Faith Prevails

Memories flooded in to me, I felt my grip on consciousness start to slip.

The day I walked in on Regan and Jane kissing...

The tears I cried when my dog died...

The day my parents were killed...

Lord Breakias Mortamo rescuing me from a run-down orphanage...

My first day of service in the Mortamo household...

The day Break stopped being "sir"...

Capturing Regan...

"I, Regan Nightray, swear fealty to Isola Lambert until she has no need of me"...

Break setting the both of us free with tears in his eyes...

Feeling embarrassed after kissing Break...

Sitting with Regan in the orchard...

I was back in the orchard. Regan looked exactly the same as he had back then. I looked down at myself. I was wearing the same uniform from back then but I could clearly see Regan's bite on my hand. Regan sat on the wooden swing hanging from the oldest apple tree. He smiled as I walked towards him.

"Hello, Sola" he said and patted the empty space on the swing.

I sat next to him without question. "That wasn't you, was it?" I asked.

Regan chuckled. "Your faith in me is admirable. And yes, that wasn't me. Although, part of it is at least half true. I didn't steal your memories, I took them from you when you asked me to".

"Any reason why you flipped out back-"

"Back in the real world. This is the realm of your memory. Some of the best moments of your young human life were spent in this orchard".

"So, if I went for a walk here would I remember stuff from before?"

"You already remember. I had to let your memories go, that way he couldn't hurt you. Not through your mind at least".

"He...Break." Regan nodded and let me continue, "How's he controlling you? And how am I talking to you now?"

"Break isn't what we thought he was. He's a Father of Time. He wants you back and he wants Jane dead for running away. He knew I kept your memories for you and bent reality to make me think I stole them and the other things I said. And you are talking to me now through your memories. And your trust. If you had doubted me for a second this wouldn't have worked. Thank you for that, Sola".

"How do we fix this? The others won't help, they hate you as far as I can tell. And there's no way I can catch up to you and Jane".

"Summon Break. He'll come the second you finish saying his name. Do you remember the other three Fathers?"

I nodded. "Malachi, Ezio and Caleb".

"Good luck, Sola. And remember, as long as you keep faith I can help you" Regan said and the orchard began to fade.

I woke up lying on the forest floor, listening to Regan and Jane's shouts through the trees.

The End
