I caught up with Ramin after he met with Godric the Elder. I was eager to hear the latest news.
"So," I asked, "what did the old elf say?"
Ramin's answer surprised me a little. "He already knew about my situation."
"How's that?" I asked, perplexed. We had only been here a few days, after all.
"Quote: 'News travels faster on the wind than on foot.'" He paused to smirk. Then, he finished the quote: "My young human friend."
I laughed, shaking my head. Then, I muttered, "Elves."
"What about them?" Ramin asked.
"They certainly love their riddles." I lowered my eyebrows, frowning slightly. "But, in this case, I think it means that we were being watched as we came." I got back to the latest news. "What else did he say? Did he know about the 'forgotten realm?'"
"Verbally, he gave no indication that he knew anything of interest, but the expression on his face told a different story. I think there is much to learn here."
"I think you are right, my friend," I said, patting him on his shoulder.
