Blaise: Unimpressed

Ooh, a tough guy eh? Fantastic. Why do I even bother?

Shaking my head, I turned and strode off into the night, leaving cyber man to do whatever it was he was up to. The military were so overrated, well, most of them anyway. Some were just downright evil.
I had the feeling that this guy's buddies were some of the evil ones.

I headed after Sonia, not intentionally, but because that was the direction of my hiding place. One of them anyway, I had a lot of hiding places. For some reason, life had decided to make me one of those people that seems to attract trouble like a dungheap attracts flies. I had more enemies than I cared to think about and I made a good habit of avoiding them.
That and getting revenge whenever their backs were turned. I was getting  very good at that now. It made me feel better to know that they weren't the only ones with some bite and that I needn't always be the one on the run.
It was damned good fun too.

I saw Sonia in the woods ahead of me, her outline dark against the trees. I cocked my head to one side and raised an eyebrow, what was that nutcase up to? Dawdling about like some love-struck loonie and obviously not going anywhere at all.

One word. Crazy.

I trotted up behind her, keeping my distance and just watching as she walked. She probably knew I was there, I was hardly trying for camouflage, but she seemed lost in her own little world. I pulled out a match and started letting the fire play around my fingers again, cursing as it nipped my fingertips. Sonia turned and gave me a confused look, I raised a hand and showed her the tiny flames whizzing between my fingers.

"It bites," I said, as if that explained everything. She gave me a confused look that said clearly that she thought I was mad.

Subtle Blaise, real subtle...

The End
