The Company had arrived, and their leader had just commanded them to chop down the tree. My wings started to twitch in anger when I saw the leader walking around, barking out orders like he owned every square inch of ground he set foot on.
"We can't just sit up here and let them find us," I told everyone. "If we want to live, we'll have to fight. Everyone here has something that no one in The Company has, not the least of which being determination. Those of us that can fly can fight from the air. The rest of you can use what you have to your advantage.
"So," I said, picking up a rock on the floor and tossing it from one hand to the other, "who's with me?"
