The Book of Faces
In the beginning, there is only the sea. Koloni rules the sea. Koloni is not a queen or a god. Koloni is nothing. An island appears. On this island is Setala, the lady of fire, goddess of the earth, she who walks on the first land. She takes her blade and slits the throat of Koloni. She takes the lungs of Koloni and gives them names. One lung is earth, the other is the valley of ta. Earth is on the island, Ta is in the island.
Setala takes the heart of Koloni and changes it. It is now Izamera, beautiful walker, singer of love, she who makes the stars. Izamera and Setala create Saia, queen of heaven, lady of Ta, bringer of death.
The world lives.
Mekeli, the dark one, killer of good, he who destroyed the first people, watches. He is jealous of the goddesses' creation. He makes lies and becomes the fourth god. He replaces Saia.
The first age of the world is the age of Setala. This is the morning of the world. Light comes from the goddesses. No sun, moon or star exists yet. The plants of the earth, grass and flower and tree, grow. The world is green and harmonic.
The second age of the world is the age of Izamera. This is the noon of the world. Light comes from the goddesses. The kedao are created. They love eachother, and with that love from Izamera they reproduce. The world is happy.
The third age of the world is the age of Mekele. This is the dusk of the world. Light is blocked by Mekele. Mekele gives darkness to the world. The kedao turn evil. They murder, steal and blaspheme against the goddesses. The world cries.
The goddesses must purify the world. They call Saia and Saia returns.
The fourth age of the world is the age of Saia. This is the midnight of the world. There is no light. Saia purifies the world. The kedao are killed. The goddesses weep. The world is empty and mourns.
The goddesses agree to start again. They agree to work together. Setala will bless the land and the fire, make plants and trees grow. Izamera will find love for the daoune so they will spread, give beauty. Saia will take them into Ta when it is time and burn away their darkness.
