The Door

The manifestation of choice; of free will.

There, before me, was the object that exemplified the true problem: will. The quintessential foundation of human nature.

An animal does not choose a path, it goes forth driven by instinct, by the natural order of the world. Put a raw steak on the other side of the door, and the dog will take that route.

As a human being, things were not so simple.

Nothing is black and white. Nothing is "yes" or "no".

Everything is conjecture; primed for bias.

There is no such thing as "the good guys."

At the end of the day, there are only winners and losers.

Which would I be when I set foot through that doorway?

There was, of course, only one way to find out.

The End
