I didn’t really sleep all that much. I was too busy trying to figure out what was going on in my head. Every time I looked at Fate, I couldn’t help smiling, knowing I had him back. But then realising he was more snuggled up to Lazarus than me felt different. Less... smiley. Fuck, why’s it so hard to figure out what’s going on in my head?
Eventually, Fate woke up. A smile spread across my lips as he snuggled up to me more, and he smiled back. “Morning,” he said sleepily.
“Morning,” I replied, kissing the top of his head. He nuzzled, letting out a hum. “You okay?”
"Mhmm. You?" I nodded, holding him a little tighter. He rested his head on my chest and nuzzled it as I played with his hair. I felt like I’d be quite happy to lie there with him like that all night. He, on the other hand, was happy to stay like that until he got hungry. I let go of him so he could go and get something to eat. He came back with some toast and somehow ended up sitting on me. “What?” he asked when I chuckled. I put my hands on his hips, earning myself those puppy eyes.
I lifted my head, planting a kiss on his belly, eliciting a giggle. I grinned, blinking as crumbs from Fate’s toast fell on me. I flicked the bigger ones at blondie, who was still fast asleep. Lazy old dog. Fate giggled again as Lazarus’ face twitched, licking the smaller crumbs off me. I pushed the crumbs into a trail up to my mouth, humming as he licked them up, pushing his tongue in my mouth when he reached it. I kissed back, running my hand through his hair.
As he hummed, Lazarus woke up. His blue eyes opened and looked over at us. He grinned at blondie, “morning.”
“Hey,” blondie nodded, smiling back. I pulled Fate back down to go back to kissing him. I was enjoying that. Except I didn’t get the same sort of attention back. He gave me a little kiss, but he was clearly more interested in Lazarus. I glanced over at him, wondering why blondie was getting more attention than me.
Fate rolled over and went to lie on Lazarus instead. Lazarus wrapped his arms around him and smiled, getting a smile and a nuzzle in return. I looked up at the ceiling, wondering why I felt almost as jealous now as I did when I saw Fate with Blake. What was with that? Had that mark I’d given him been more than just losing control? I could see them kissing out of the corner of my eye and sighed a little.
“You okay?” Fate asked, looking over at me. I nodded, sitting up.
“Yeah. I’m gonna go out. I’ll leave you two to it,” I smiled a little. He gave me the puppy eyes again and held his arms out. I gave him a little hug, but he wrapped his legs around me too. “What?” I asked when he kept up the wide eyed look.
“Where go?” he questioned, apparently having forgotten how to speak properly.
“Just to a bar to eat,” I replied, stroking his hair.
“Okay,” he said, looking just the tiniest bit upset.
“What’s that face for?”
“I dunno,” he still had his puppy eyes on, and I kissed his forehead. He hummed and let go. "Don’t be too long."
“I won’t,” I promised.
I may have broken my promise. I spent a good few hours in the bar, most of them used buying drinks for whatever pretty human caught my eye. Instead of drinking from one person, I snacked, dragging out my trip so I didn’t have to go back and watch Fate roll around like a desperate puppy in front of Lazarus.
When I got back, what I saw wasn’t exactly a desperate puppy trying to get the older dog’s attention. He had the older dog’s full attention, and I didn’t really wanna stick around to see it. I snuck back out of the apartment and went back to the bar to do my best to ignore whatever was going on inside of my head.
