"You smell of him again," Lazarus said, that little glimmer of jealousy back in his eyes as I joined him on the sofa. I glance at him, pulling him to me so he's resting against my body. I spread my hand out over his bare stomach, stroking my thumb across his skin. Saying nothing, I flick on the TV. "Am I going to have to share you?"he asked, his tone surprisingly sulky for someone over three hundred years old.
"He's just a pup. There's no reason to worry about him, okay?" I make my voice firm and reassuring, and he leans his head on my shoulder. "He'll lose interest soon enough." I encircled as much of him as I could with one arm, holding him closer, and his own arms wrapped around me, holding me possessively. I moved my hand a little lower, adding a couple fingers into the stroking. I could see him doing his best to behave, but the stirring in his boxers told me all I needed to know.
Lifting him like a child, held under one arm, I chuckled a little as he clung to me, alarmed by the movement. I threw him down on the bed, and he gasped, not bothering to hide his growing need. I was surprised he hadn't learnt by now - it was always just us. No matter how many others caught my attention for a few weeks, it was always just us.
He was awake most of the night after we were done, restless. He knew there was something I wasn't telling him. He kept shifting between his forms, unsure of what he wanted to do.
"Go to sleep," I groaned.
"I can't," he said, lying down beside me anyway. "You never go to sleep this early, even after sex. It's bugging me. Are you doing something tomorrow that you didn't tell me about?" I roll my eyes. "Why won't you tell me?"
"Because you'll turn yourself into a big paranoid mess over it," I growled, making him shiver and curl up. Like Fate, he was incredibly good at the puppy eyes. I figured it must be a werewolf thing. He stared at me, his eyes wide and patient. Sighing, I played with his hair, keeping my voice and actions soothing so he wouldn't freak out. "Fate invited me over for the morning. I said yes to keep him happy, but I think I might actually go."
"Invited you over? His pack'll rip you to shreds if you go there. You're not going," his voice rose as he spoke and he uncurled, moving over me, so I was pinned to the bed. I looked up at him, unimpressed. "You're not going, Brody."
"They'll all be out. I can look after myself."
"You know what happened the last time a pack caught you," he said almost threateningly. I did indeed know. The scars had pretty much vanished now, but the memories were as fresh as ever. I shoved Lazarus off, harder than I'd meant to. He fell off the bed and landed on the floor with a thud. "I'm not about to let that happen to you again," he told me, kneeling so he could see me.
"Lazarus, if you don't shut up and go to sleep, I will put a silver collar on you and chain you to the bed, d'you understand?" I was nearly shouting, but I didn't care anymore. He cringed away from me, knowing it wasn't an idle threat and nodded. Shifting into his wolf form, he slunk away into the living room and curled up under my desk, letting out a low whine. I shut the door to block him out and set about calming down enough to fall asleep.
I went to Fate's at about ten in the morning. I figured everyone would have left by then. That and Lazarus managed to stall me by about an hour by getting under my feet and generally being annoying.
I knocked on Fate's door, looking over when I saw him stick his head out of the window.
"Don't use the door, idiot."
"Don't I have to be invited over the threshold?" I asked, grinning a little.
He rolled his eyes at me, "windows work fine, asshole." I went over to the window, chuckling as he invited me inside. He smiled at me as I climbed inside. It dropped into a frown though, as he sniffed me. "Thought you said he was out of town."
"At the weekend. I believe it's still the middle of the week." He kept up his frown. "What?"
"Nothing." I flopped sown on the sofa, not waiting for an invitation to do so.
"He's been really clingy recently," I grumbled.
"Is that a bad thing?"
"It wouldn't be, but I got the feeling he was trying to break my legs earlier so I couldn't go out." He arched an eyebrow. "Might've worked if he wasn't so big. He's jealous of you, y'know." He smiled a little at that.
"Is he?" I nodded, wondering what would happen if I left them in a room together. Could be entertaining. "Why?"
"Fuck knows, but the arguing last night's left me all hungry. C'mere," I gestured for him to come over, and like the good little pup he was, he obliged. I pulled him down onto my lap, sinking my teeth into his neck for a snack. He hummed, tilting his head to give me better access as I stroked his leg.
Once I was done, I licked up the mess I'd made and healed the bites. He buried his head in my neck, starting with his nuzzling again. I ran my fingers through his hair, smiling as he planted a tiny kiss on my neck.
"So what did you have in mind bringing me here, then?"
"I just wanted to see you," he told me with a shrug.
"I'm used to being dragged out in the day for a little more than just to be seen," I smiled slightly, wondering if there was something else he wanted of me. He shrugged again. "Well, either way, it's too close to midday for me to go anywhere, so I'm all yours til it's safe for me to walk around outside."
