January 27th - the 2009 Protagonists' Diary

Dear Diary

With the end of the first month of 2009 approaching, I have yet to put my New Year writing resolutions into practice. Here, I hope, is the start to one of them, which is to post items on Protagonize on at least a fairly regular basis.

I joined Protagonize August 4 2008 and so far have posted only two items. I have begun additions to a couple of the stories here but as yet, they are unfinished. Whether my muse was asleep or has deserted me I do not know, but hopefully she will return and allow me to finish them. I have also commented on a few stories, but sometimes I would become so engrossed in reading that it would slip my mind to do so. This is another area I would like to improve; after all, it’s all good writing practice’

Reading Redhead Rose’s entry for January 4th made me realize that I am not the only one who has fears of spoiling someone else’s story, or that what I have written is not good enough. I should post anyway. How else will I learn to improve my writing if no-one sees my efforts? Any help from all the wonderful writers on this site would be most welcome.

I also joined Nanowrimo November 9 for the first time in 2008. I had known of it, but thought that it was for finished novels. I didn’t achieve the purple bar but I did reach just over 40,000 words. I was elated with that, and gave myself a pat on the back (as well as RSI for a week after). What I discovered was that the more I wrote, the more the ideas, plots, twists and turns just seemed to flow. It was great fun! I enjoyed participating, and look forward to the 2009 event.

Therefore, Dear Diary, this is my entry for which I would like to give a big thank-you to RiverTalker who invited me to take part in this challenge.

Thank-you RT

Sandie J

ps: my writing resolutions for 2009 are:

To post more on Protagonize and update my profile

To try to remember to comment
