I watched him talking to her, grinning. Everything was going according to plan.
"Madame." Bellona called. "Madame!"
"What is it?" I sighed.
"How much longer will this go on for?" she asked, trying to tower over me.
"As long as necessary." I replied, turning. "Are you questioning what we are doing here?" I reached for my gun, ready to shoot if she decided to betray us.
"No," she said, sounding a little unsure. "Its just that, well, I'm cold."
I turned to face her. I couldn't quite tell if she was lying, but I knew that something was wrong. "Then get a spare jacket or something. Oh and watch him. Make sure he doesn't do anything stupid."
I walked away quickly. I found Klu waiting for me in my quarters, paper in her hand. "The Doctor hasn't been seen anywhere. He is not going to find us."
"That's what you think." I mumbled. "Is the last line of security ready?"
The Silurian nodded before retreating out of sight. I was ready for anything that he could do. I laughed to myself.
I was surprised to see the door open and Kiril walk in.
"What is it?" I asked.
He seemed distant and scared - a bad mix. I smiled a gentle smile, hoping he would confide in me. "I didn't think it would be like this."
"I understand." I encouraged him to sit beside me on the bed. "But you know that what we are doing is for the best don't you?" He nodded weakly. I smiled again, kissing him on the cheek. "You have been brave, so brave."
I stood up, looking at him as he held his hand to his cheek. He smiled back at me. He was a risk.
"Thank you, Madame." He said as I moved to the door.
"But I no longer know if I can trust you. You will remain here until the project is complete. The room will be under guard and they will shoot you if you try to escape. Do you understand?" I was through the doorway, signalling to a guard. He looked hurt but I ignored it with a snarl.
"You are a..." I didn't let him finish, choosing to shut the door. I instructed the guard to stay there and returned to the control room where Bellona was looking concerned.
"I lost him." She said, looking to her feet.
"I found him. Don't we make a good team?" I cracked a smile. "You want to know something Bellona?" She nodded. "Who do you think I trust?"
She looked a little confused. "Everyone here...?" she asked. I shook my head.
"Only myself and the Doctor. Neither of us are willing to sell ourself out for our cause and we are the only people I know like that." She looked scared. "Unlike you. You betrayed your friend. You sold her out."
I turned and left, unable to stay in her presence anymore.
