Love One Another (Part Two)

To hold her hand at midnight and listen
to her inflectionless voice describe
the terrors she endures every night
in her dreams--to listen with compassionate
ears as he bemoans the consequences
of poor decisions--to walk with each
of them through their fires, willing
to walk away scathed from the hells
they have witnessed or created for themselves:
nothing less than this counts as Love.

The End
