Who Walk Not After the Flesh but After the Spirit

"What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself in my mind am a slave to God's law, but in my sinful nature a slave to the law of sin. Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus [who walk not after the flesh but after the Spirit], because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death."
Apostle Paul, from his letter to the Church in Rome

Who Walk Not After the Flesh but After the Spirit

Spirit clothed
in flesh to walk
after an invisible
God, struggling
against a wind
with the breath
of a hurricane.
Spirals of blood,
soot, dirt run
across the path,
the ground breaking
evenly with every foot-
fall. A swatch
of greenery meets
my eyes to, again,
remind me
that there is still
life in this place.

The End
