I realised that I had embarrassed Elliot by asking about his private life as he spent the rest of the afternoon avoiding my eye. Christine went home straight after the film, not saying much to anyone which made me shuffle uncomfortably as I knew that could only mean I’d got Elliot into trouble and sure enough he rounded on me as soon as she was out of earshot.
“Why’d you have to be so nosey, what’s it to you if I am in a relationship with Christine or not?” Elliot said glaring daggers at me.
“Woah, sorry dude, I didn’t mean to drop you into anything, I was just interested is all. She’s a nice lass.” I said and his features seemed to soften,
“She is isn’t she,” he said smiling to himself.
“Yeah, I’m happy for you, want a cuppa?” I asked changing the subject. He nodded absentmindedly, his mind obviously on Christine now. “Oh and by the way, Samuel is coming round later on for another guitar lesson, is that ok?”
Elliot grunted a yes then flopped back down on the couch.
There was a soft knock on the door and I opened it to see Sam’s jet black hair and gorgeous chocolate brown eyes gazing right at me, a guitar in one hand and a bag in the other.
“Hey, I have been practicing loads this past week and I think I have finally got that chord right!” he said happily giving me a big cheesy grin and showing his pearly white teeth.
I chuckled and shut the door before following him into the living room where he was already setting up. “You are really coming on leaps and bounds, hell at this rate you will be better than me!”
“No, you are just an amazing player and I am lucky you are willing to teach me!” he enthused and I felt my cheeks redden slightly, but I hid it by covering my face with my hands and giving a fake cough until the redness had surpassed.
“Come on then, lets hear you play!”
