Scarecrow: I should have been a dentist

I opened my mouth to answer Dani when I spied a movement in the rearview mirror. "GET DOWN!" I yelled as I jumped out of the car and took a run at the man, tackling him to the ground and pinning him down, disarming him in seconds. He stared up at me in cool determination and I knew he had something up his sleeve. No man gives in that easily to capture.

What are you up to?

My eyes widened as I saw the muscles in his jaw clench and it was then that I knew. Cyanide pill inserted in the back tooth, bite down and bye bye information.

I did the first thing that came into my head. I grabbed his mouth and forced it open before he know what was happening, shoving the barrel of his gun into it so he couldn't bite me.

"Dani get me the toolbox." I said in a dangerous tone and she looked at me in horror. "Why?"

"Just GET IT OK?!" I was in no mood for explaining myself. I wanted blood.

She looked shocked and rushed to the boot of the Jeep to grab the toolkit.

"Here." she plopped it down beside me and stared in distaste at the man I had pinned under me. "A**hole." she spat and his eyes flashed angrily.

I held up a pliers close to his face. "You look at her like that again and I won't knock you out."

He rolled his eyes at me and then paused to think about what I'd just said.

Won't knock you out....

His eyes widened in realisation and I sighed, pretending I was disappointed with him. I was secretly delighted. I wanted to get a nail file and file the skin off his face off bit by bit and then I'd take a really acidic sort of cream and rub it in so that..... No! No... Calm down Crow. Calm it. I took a deep breath."Fine. You asked for it the hard way. Dani hold his head."

Dani cautiously knelt beside him and held his head steady with her knees and hands. "What are you going to do?" she looked at me like I was crazy.

"Stop him from killing himself and taking the pleasure away from me."

Nobody said anything but there was a brief pause and I knew what they were thinking. "I'll be nice." I said through gritted teeth.

I motioned to Drake to take the gun out of his mouth while I held it open with one hand, pliers ready in the other. Drake pulled the gun out and in the same moment I clamped the pliers down on the root of the tooth, taking care not to hit the false top. His eyes began to roll and he started to make a muffled sound that seemed to be something like "No no no no no please!"

I pulled. Hard.

His screams echoed through the car park and I started to laugh hysterically as I held the tooth up to the light. "I should have been a dentist." I giggled.

Oh the joy of being a machine, devoid of emotion...

Dani looked like she was going to be physically sick and Drake had a strange look on his face that I couldn't decipher. I didn't really care. I took my gun out of my back pocket and smacked the guy across the head with it. "Goodnight sweetheart." I growled as I stood up.

"Are you insane?" A Doctor had been hiding behind his car until he realised we were the good guys and he called out to me as I dusted myself off. "That poor man, that was so mechanical. Don't you have any feelings at all?"

"Nope Doc." I closed my eyes and images of Beth and Jagan laughing and talking flashed through my mind. My friend, my sister. Murdered.

I clenched my fists.

"I don't have a heart. I have a command prompt."

He looked puzzled at my reply as he tried to scurry into the hospital, his head still ducked low as though he expected to be shot at.

"What do we do now?" Dani asked a little shakily.

"Interrogate." I picked the guy up and slung him over my shoulder as I walked back towards the Jeep. I threw him into the back seat and shut the door on his head. "Oops." I said cheerfully. "Sorry mate." .... not.

Dani sat in the back and kept her gun trained on him as I jumped in behind the wheel and started it up.

"Where to?" Drake asked quietly "HQ is gone...."

I smiled sadistically. "Oh I know a place..."

I put the Jeep into gear and reversed as I flexed my fingers on my gun hand. "Foster and I built it especially for a crisis like this."

The End
