Harry - Crazy HappeningMature

The truth and dare had been a failure but I was glad it hadn’t come round to me; I usually chose truth…and lied. Now that Silas was alone in the front and Floss was out of it, it was only Livvy and A left to talk to but A was moody and Livvy was tired. I took off my seatbelt and went to find my cell, I had seven messages and two voicemails, but instead of reading them I put my phone back. I wasn’t feeling like my usual self and I thought I knew why, I glanced quickly at Aimee who was still not meeting my eye after I dared Floss with the vodka. I sighed and went to the front where I climbed through and took my seat next to Si,

“Tired?” I asked,

“Nope,” he replied quickly,

“Hungry?” I asked,

“Nope,” I gave up on the small-talk questions and went for the big one,

“Are you mad at me?”

“No, why would I be mad at you?” he asked but the tone of his voice was a little off,

“I don’t know, you tell me,” I said nonchalantly,

“Fine!” he burst as though I had been pressuring or even torturing him, “I don’t like the way you look at girls,” he muttered,

“I don’t look at them differently,” I said slowly trying to figure out what he meant,

“Yeah you do, as though each of them is a piece of meat for you to sink your teeth into,”

“Are you comparing me to an animal?” I asked,

“Animals have more emotions that you,”

“What?! That’s nothing to do with anything!” I protested, “I’m not emotionless! Seriously Si, what’s up with you?”

“Okay okay, that came out wrong,” he paused to think, “like an animal, you only see a girl for what she is, not who she is,”

“Just speak English,” I begged,

“Stop being a player!” Si blurted out, “Settle for one girl,” I didn’t reply as I glanced in the rear-view mirror and caught A’s eye for the first time in an hour or so.

“I think I know what you mean,” I muttered,

“You do?” he asked surprised, “Well that’s good news,” he smiled and pulled into a lay-by,

“Turns out I am tired and hungry,” Si grinned and left the wheel, I climbed into the driver’s seat and was about to turn on the ignition when Livvy called out,

“Wait! Something just moved over there!” we all looked out the left hand window into the forest on the side,

“It was probably an animal,” Silas reasoned,

“I thought I saw a gun,” she muttered, I turned on the engine and suddenly there was a loud resigning shot, one that would come from a gun. Livvy marched out the van followed by Silas,

“Wait, what are you crazy?” he asked grabbing her jumper, “Someone’s in there with a gun!”

“Are you crazy?” she cried, “There’s a body over there covered in blood!” we all looked back into the trees to see that she was right, a male body was strewn across the floor, the orange glow of the sun rise made him look even more bloody. I watched as Livvy crouched down by the body and checked his heart,

“Should we go after her?” A asked,

“Should we call the cops?” Si opted,

“My cell’s in the bag at the backdoor,” I called, the three still in the van went to look for it, I peered back at Livvy and noticed a moving figure in the trees, Livvy looked around and saw my face which obviously showed fear. I jumped out the van and ran towards Livvy in the trees, the two men in black jumped out before me, one grabbed Liv and the other picked up the body. A gun was pointed at my head,

“Move, and she dies,” said the man holding Livvy, another gun was put at her head,

“Crap,” I whispered under my breath.

It all happened in a matter of seconds, Livvy was dropped to the floor and kicked, the two men retreated into the woods with guns still pointing at us. Silas had joined my side and I put my hand on his shoulder to stop from moving towards Livvy, A and Floss had stayed in the van and were peering out the window. When we were sure the coast was cleared Silas and I went forward to Livvy, she had been kicked in the head and was a little delirious. I scooped her up and we laid her down in the van,

“I called the police, they’re on their way, do we need an ambulance too?” A asked,

“She’ll be okay,” Si confirmed,

“I want to go home, I want to go home,” Livvy kept repeating,

“The police are here,” Floss called,

“I’ll go deal,” I muttered getting up,

“I’ll come too,” A said putting her hand on my shoulder, I was sure she gave me an electric shock. My heart began to pump as they got out their clip boards and wrote down the events,

“Can we see the injured girl?” he asked after I’d explained, the cop climbed into the van and looked at Livvy,

“Can you tell me what happened?” he asked,

“Take me home,” she begged,

“She was kicked in the head,” Si informed the policeman,

“I’m aware of that,” he muttered, “I don’t think I’ll be getting any sense out of her…” he paused, “Well I’d better be off,”

“Is that it?” Si demanded,

“What can I do? There’s no evidence, who’s to say that you kids aren’t just mucking around,” he glanced at the bottle of vodka, he picked it up, “can I see some ID?”

“…I don’t have any,” I admitted, “I’m underage,” telling the truth was better than lying, “and don’t blame these guys, it was me who was drinking, not them,” I didn’t want my friends getting in trouble too. The policeman picked up the bottle,

“You know what? I’ll make you a deal,” he sat on the seat, “you don’t tell anyone about this,” he pointed towards the forest, “and I won’t report you for this,” he lifted up the bottle, “deal?”

“Deal,” Silas spoke for all of us. The policeman drove off and we stayed in silence,

“Is it me, or is something fishy going on?” A asked slowly,

“Jeez we could have got busted for that vodka,” Flo smiled, “thanks for owning up,” she looked at me,

“I don’t know what just happened, but it looks like the police are behind it too,”

“Why don’t we just forget what happened and enjoy our summer like we are supposed to?” Floss asked,

“Deal,” Silas said getting up, “Harry, it’s your turn to drive.”
