I grinned thinking back on the encounter by my locker. It wa rare I found someone with the same tastes as me but this guy seemed to be like my brother or something. I wandered through the corridor, wrapped up in my thoughts, again I managed to bump into someone, almost knocking him to the ground. My books were knocked out of my hand. The bottom fell out of my stomach. Here was the last place I wanted to get into a fight. Before, I was laways fighting, always into every kind of trouble, now I just wanted to keep my head down.

The guy was tall and had georgeous brown eyes, messy brown hair and a scary frown on his face. He relaxed when he saw me.

"Hi." He had a deep voice and looked as though he would rather be somewhere else.

"Hi."I replied, slightly dazed. He glanced down and saw my books on the floor. Immeadiately, he bent down to pick them up. I went to take them, but he handed them to me. I trhnaked him shyly. He gave me a very searching look in return. Then shook his head slightly.

"I'm Jake."

We ended up just staring for a while. He must think I am a right idiot. I walked right into him and now I'm just staring at him. Think of something to say....

"Well, sorry for bumping into you." he said eventually.

"No it was my fault!"I replied quickly, "Don't blame yourself!"

He nodded at me and I felt all awkward again. I half wanted to run off, but Jake intrigued me.

"We can share the blame. Well, anyway, I guess I'll see you around?"

I nodded and unable to think of anything else to say I walked off. I could feel his eyes on my back as I walked and I knew he was analysing my every step.

"COME ON!" I heard a loud crash and guessed he had hit a locker. I pretended I hadn't heard, but I grinned again, my hair falling around my face.

Thank God I didn't blush...for once. I really should think of something to say next time.

I collected some books and wandered over to the library, figuring since there didn't seem to be much to do, I could get some work done and keep out of trouble. For now at least. I settled on a desk overlooking the grounds, plugging in my iPod and working on a History essay. Why not?

In a pause in the music, faint yells floated through the open window to me. I looked up to see two of the guys grappling with each other, one of them was Jake, another was a blond, loud (and apparently American) guy I hadn't yet come across. I shoved my stuff in my bag and ran out to them. Dumping my stuff a safe distance away, I ran over.

"OI!" I yelled at the top of my lungs, "What the HELL do you think you're doing?!"

They both ignored me. I rolled my eyes, pretty annoyed. I yelled again, to no effect. So I took decisive action. I gave them both a whack in the ribs. That got their attention.

"I'll say it again, what the hell are you two doing?" I said, daring them to hit me. I deliberately did not look at Jake. "Are you planning on getting the lot of us in trouble or something? Its the first freaking day!"

Okay, so I was mad. I'd been in enough fights and I was sick of them. Plus, I didn't like the idea of anyone hitting Jake. There was something about him...

"Huh. And who do ya think y'are?" the blond drawled at me, running his eyes up and down over my body. I grit my teeth.

"Jasmine." I replied neutrally.

"Why did you interfere?" Jake asked me in that deep voice of his. I blushed, glancing at his frown before lowering my eyes.

"Saw you two fighting from the library. Thought it'd be better I broke you two up than the Head. Plus I hate fights. If you rather I didn't I won't bother next time." I finished quietly and walked off, picking up my bag as I went. I felt like a total fool.

The End
