Jake Porlo

I've been here for a while, reform school I mean. Most people here are innocent, but not me. I killed someone. I stabbed them repeatedly. You would think I'd go to jail or some kind of juvenile hall. But no. My parents are rich, so they bought my a good lawyer. A very good lawyer. Although, reform school was unavoidable.

I came here when I was fifteen, now I'm sixteen.

You probably are wondering why I killed that kid. Well, he was a bully. He always beat on me, and I was tired of it. I was a spoiled brat, so I expected everyone to treat me like I was a king. When he didn't, I got mad.

I've changed since then, even if no one believes it. I want to make friends, but everyone thinks I'll kill them if they get too close.

But things are going to change this year. I know it.

Today was the first day of the school year. So there were tons of annoying new kids talking about how they got here.

"I robbed a bank!" one kid in a group yelled triumphantly. Another kid in the group grabbed my shoulder and said, "Why you here?"

I smiled evilly and said, "I killed someone that got on my nerves."

The kid let go of me and backed up against the wall. I smiled at him and kept walking.

You would think I'd be scarred for life by the whole, watching a guy bleed to death. But a good therapist can work wonders. Trust me.

I walked down towards my dorm, to go and check who my knew roommate is. Last year I had a druggie, that sucked. He was always on crack so it was hard to have a good conversation with him.

Suddenly, someone bumped into me and set me off balance. I almost fell but caught myself.  I frowned and turned around to beat the kid who walked into me, but I stopped myself. It was a girl.

"Hi." I said, immediately regretting it.

"Hi." she said. She looked like she was in a daze. I looked down and realized she had dropped her books. I reached down and picked them up. She thanked me and took them.

I looked hard at her, she was beautiful. I shook it off and said, "I'm Jake."

"Jasmine."

We stared at each other for a while, and I was feeling stupider, and stupider. Finally I broke the stare and said, "Well, sorry for bumping into you."

"No it was my fault!" She said with a gasp, "Don't blame yourself!"

I nodded at her and said, "We can share the blame. Well, anyway, I guess I'll see you around?"

She nodded and started walking away. I watched her for a moment then punched a locker, "COME ON!" I yelped in frustration.

"Umm..." I heard a voice say. I turned around to see a kid standing there with wide eyes, "What are you doing to my locker?"

I looked at the dented locker, then back at him, "Uhh...sorry...talk to the Head Master, I'm sure that he'll replace it..." I walked away and hit my forehead with the palm of my hand.

"I'm such an idiot!"

The End
