Waking on the Table

Pain ripped through Sarah’s abdomen as if she was being cut open. She screamed, her eyes flicking open only to be blinded by bright white lights.

There were voices all around her; some authoritative, some panicked. An incessant beeping assaulted her brain; faster and faster and faster it went until it was a solid sound. At that same instance the doors were flung open and a blue light flooded the room.

Sarah’s eyes locked onto the new presence that ignored the chaos. Slipping back into the oblivion of unconsciousness, Sarah heard the beeping resume at a sedate pace.
