"So what happened to you?"
Ha ha, trust me buddy, you wouldn't believe me if I told you. But what you don't know won't hurt you.
Finn smiled painedly up at Evan, who was looking equally awkward. He blew out between his teeth before answering:
"Had an accident with some electric fencing. Brother owns a farm and I was helping out. He didn't realise I had some of the stuff around my wrist until he turned it on. You can see the results."
The lie came easily to Finn, lies always did. If he couldn't lie, he wouldn't survive. Life was like that for him. Sometimes his lie was so convincing he almost believed it himself. Now was, fortunately, one of those times. Evan nodded and they stared across the room for a few moments. Then Finn asked gingerly:
"What did you do then? I saw that nutcase woman shoot you, but what about before? Evan right? I'm Finn. Nice to meet you."
There's something strange about this guy, thought Finn as he looked the man up and down. He might look normal, but he suspected something else was going on under the uneasy smile.
What exactly he didn't know. And after what he'd seen today, he wasn't sure if he wanted to find out.
