Konrad was startled when Alex took his hand of his chest and fell back, rolling onto his back. Pandora said something, but it didn't register. He'd never seen anything like this before. Yes, young vampires falling to the Beast, their will power crumbling but this... Even the most bloodthirsty vampires he'd ever known had been able to stop drinking if they wanted to, they had the choice. According to Alex, he couldn't stop. He dropped to his knees and put his cheek above Alex's mouth. He felt ragged breathing.
"Come on, Kiddo. You're going to get through this. Come on! I can't let you die! I can't!" he growled. Alex's eyes flickered open, and he breathed something, so quietly even Konrad couldn't understand. He sort of had a... Feeling of what to do. He didn't know what would happen, when he did, though. It was something he'd never done before. He reached into his back pocket and removed a flick-knife. He drew it lightly across his palm, just enough to draw a drop of blood. He put his palm above Alex's mouth and watched as, in seeming slow motion, the blood fell into Alex's mouth.
