Re: When? [SilverGirl]Mature

When April winds blow blossoms down

And rain beats down on daffodils-

Bruising petals, bending stems

And twisting young willow tendrils-

Is when I’ll think of you.

When Spring pulls shoots from dampened soil

With force, but ever knowing best.

When flowers bloom and all is birthed

At the slowly warming Earth’s behest

Is when I’ll think of you.

When I remember early days

Of dew-dipped grass and quiet time.

When new emotions imitated

The gradual, creeping temperature climb

Is when I’ll think of you.

When life springs with zesty zeal anew

And sharp, keen perfumes rend the air.

When breezes blow with mellow cool,

Like those which once swept through your hair

Is when I’ll think of you.

When I think of the end of happiness,

Instead of desired happy endings.

When the lively earth seems incongruous

To the death of acclaimed couplings

Is when I’ll think of you.

When I remember how you wept,

Like showers streaming down your face

As you told me new life had to split us,

Our memories to be displaced,

Then I’m already thinking of you.

When I consider how we parted:

Unwilling, with a pained caress.

You are no longer mine to ponder

And I know, to my plaguing distress

That I should not think of you.

But I will always think of you.
