It felt strange, as my body destroyed itself and then recreated itself into another room.
Swarm entered the room, "I have a job for you, if you succeed, I shall tell you much of what you wish to know," he promised and handed me ring.
"What the hell is this crap?"
"That crap, is a very powerful, useful tool," he reprimanded, "I got it from that amulet, I managed to get a chip of the jewel then surrounded it with a crystal compund and used a very-difficult-to-make machine to get the crystal to take on the jewels properties and then placed the new jewel in a ring," he explained.
"Why do I need to know that?"
"I just wanted you to know how much effore I put into this," he said simply, "now that jewel can protect you from any pyschic power and it enhanced your own providing an almost limitless source of energy... perfect for you," he took off the dampener as I put on the ring, "I need you to find a Superhuman, he is called Chaos, he is very dangerous."
"What do you want me to do with him?" I wondered.
"I need you to bring him here so we can gain some control of him and use his powers, but beware, he's a little... well you'll see," he moved to the door, "by the way, I'll have men watching you so don't try anything, if you succeed I'll be able to trust you a little more, but above all, don't fail and don't take off that ring!"
I set out and the first place I went was the pub. I really needed a drink after all, turning on your friends, doings a villains dirty work and being teleported around like a lap dog really takes it outta you.
At the bar I ordered a martini and downed it in one. Dutch courage.
A girl appeared then, sitting next to me.
"You look like you've had a rough time," she smiled. Her hair was long and black, almost purple, her eyes a deep violet and her lips almost black in contrast to her very pale skin. There was something alluring and beautiful about her as she came closer, "they call me... Succubus," she whispered seductively.
"Nova," I muttered tonelessy, "but enough talk, kiss me," I said and she did. At first it was the best thing ever. Then her eyes turned black and I felt myself weaken, unable to break off she continued to kiss me. then just as I wanted it, she was the one to push me away. She looked horrified, like she didn't know why she was doing it.
"I've never, been so bothered about this," she grumbled, confused, "why do I care?" I touched my lips, the skin felt cold and dead. As I looked at her her features seemed younger, her face not quite as gaunt, her hair more colourful. She ran from the pub and I followed her but the bat-like wings sprouted from her back and she flew off. For some reason I had a feeling I'd be seeing her again, and I was ok with that.
So I set off for Chaos again, determined to stop him.
