I sprinted out of the hall, persued by the shocked whispers of most of the gods and goddesses assembled there. None of them, except Than, Thantos and Primrose had seen any kind of weakness from me before. In the meetings I always carried myself with strength and a feirce loyalty to my realm. Fighting back tears, I found myself on the balcony, the cool breeze wrapping itself around me like a protective friend. A mintue later, Thantos joined me, putting his hands on my shoulders. I turned and pulled him into a close hug, feeling his arms go around me a second later.
"Nyx, you're shaking" he said gently.
"I thought he was going to kill you." I whispered.
Than's voice came through the open door.
"Nyx, Im' going away for awhile, I will attend the meetings and such. But I hurt you way too much-it isn't fair. And I'm going to make sure Primrose is back to her fiery self... Good bye, my love."
I flinched involuntarily as I sensed the Portal close, causing Thantos' arms to tighten around me.
"I've got you Nyx. I'm not going to let him hurt you again."
I took a deep breath to calm myself and looked up at him.
"We should probably get back." I said, my voice coming out stronger than I expected. "The gods are expecting their fearless Queen of the Night remember?"
Thantos sighed, putting a hand on my cheek. "You're too noble for your own good, you know that? They have no idea how lucky they are to have you as their Queen."
"All I know is that I'm lucky to have you always there for me." I smiled. "I can deal with the Than issue once we're back in the Dark Realm and there aren't so many gossips around to watch."
Thantos nodded. "Alright, but just give me a shout if you want to slip away early okay?"
"Don't tempt me." I gave him a half-hearted smile and followed him back into the hall.
The guy by the door opened his mouth to announce us but I span round and pinned him to the wall with my powers.
"If you know what's good for you, you will keep your mouth shut." I hissed.
The guy nodded rapidly and I let him go, melting into the crowd. I ended up chatting to Hades, with Thantos there as well. The boys were doing their usual routine of winding each other playfully and finally drawing some laughter from me when Apollo appeared, looking rather more humble than I was used to seeing him. He gave Hades a murderous glance before fixing his eyes on me. The smiles drained from our faces as we regarded him cautiously.
"I want to talk to you-in private." He muttered, before stalking outside.
I shrugged at the other two. "I'll be back in a minute."
I eventually found Apollo by the pond outside. "What do you want Apollo?"
