Ace - A broken heart.

I gulped. My heart tore a little more every time I saw Dia with Joker. I could have sworn that only a few thin threads were now stopping my heart from falling completely into pieces. It hurt when I breathed, and I lay awake most nights, crying until I fell into a fitful state of unconsciousness.

And now she was coming to see me compete in a game of Hide and Seek. I knew I would win, but the pressure seemed to be weighing me down, and I felt vaguely ill. As I entered the stadium and took my place, I felt dizzier and dizzier. I dimly saw Dia and Joker enter the stands, and then I blacked out.

"Ace! Ace!" I thought I heard Dia calling my name through the blackness, but then everything faded back into silence, and all I could hear was the slow beat of my own heart.

I awakened in my bed at home, with a splitting head ache. I reached up, to rub my head, and was shocked to find that my fingers came into contacted with rough cloth.

"Ace?" Dia was sitting beside my bed, her cheeks streaked with tears.

"D.. Dia?" I replied slowly, groggily. "Wh-happened?"

"You just.. collapsed, right before the game was about to start. You collapsed, fell forward and smashed your head against a stone. You had to have ten stitches. You've been unconscious for the past two hours. She cried, another tear slipping down her cheek. I blinked.

"Huh? Wh-why?" I mumbled.

"No-one knows. The doctors think it may have been sleep deprivation..." As she spoke, all I could do was stare at her lips moving, and think about how much I longed to kiss her. When she finished speaking, I struggled to into a sitting position. "Ace! No, you can't!" I silenced her with a kiss.

"I still love you, Dia." I whispered.
