Desire is pain abandoned in lust

[Poetry assignment for English class on Everyone Leaves by Wendy Guerra]

We did not move in tandem,

It was a struggle of limbs,

A dance of wild abandon,

On that black floor.

You ravaged me like a storm of fire,

But after the heat faded,

There was not much left to desire,

Anguish walks hand in hand with lust.

It was a battle neither of us won,

We entwined and untangled,

But in the end, I was undone,

And left behind, as always.

The End
