Eve

I wandered out of the house, idly turning the emerald over and over in my hand. I was pretty sure my power was speed, or rather, enhanced speed. I closed my eyes, took a deep breath, opened them again and ran.

Within seconds I was back in front of the house, when normally it would have taken me at least three minutes. Yup, definitely enhanced speed.

I heard someone behind me. I turned to look, but no one was there. Odd.

"Well well. Look what we have here."

I spun round again, trying to see the source of the female voice that had just spoken. Again, I couldn't see them.

There was a laugh from behind me, a high laugh, which sounded oddly unlike the voice.

Suddenly someone stepped from the air in front of me. I jumped back.

I didn't like the look of the woman in front of me. She had long dark hair and very black eyes. I didn't like her.

Light flashed off something in her hand. I looked, and saw something like my emerald, but deepest night black rather than bright green.

Naturally, I ran, knowing she'd not catch me. I was shocked to find I was moving at my old pace, slower even.

"I wouldn't try running. You can't defy gravity," she hissed. I realized she must be able to manipulate gravity to a high degree. Which effectively canceled out my power.

"Help!" I yelled. I suddenly shot backwards towards the woman. Almost certainly gravity.

"Who are you?" I asked, my mouth suddenly dry.

"My name is Atlantis, but you may know me as a Black One. Or, perhaps your personal nemesis is a better desription."

"Ellie! Zoey! Lucinda! Jade! Marc! Ben! William! Luke! Jake! Someone!" I shouted back at the house. I tried to run but I was held in place by the altered gravity.

Great. Well done, Eve.
