"You know walking back, it doesn't seem that bad," Blake began.
"That's because you're walking downhill, moron," I teased.
"You couldn't just let me pretend?"
I laughed, "Did this exert some of you energy?"
"Depends what energy you're talking about..."
"And you get offended when I call you a sex pest!"
She raised her eyebrows playfully at me.
We made it back into the heart of Florence and decided to grab some chocolate cake, because well, what's a better distraction away from boys?
"Do you think they do chocolate fudge cake?" I asked.
"I don't know I'll check," Blake said. "Don't think I don't know why you want that so much. You eat it every time there's something bad happening with a boy."
"Nothing bad is happening."
"Well, you're not speaking to Daniel today."
"That's not bad..."
"Whatever..." she said as she raised her eyebrow at me, knowingly.
"Not necessarily..." I began. "Just order that for me, if they have it. If not, anything chocolate-y. I need to use the bathroom."
I followed the signs to the bathroom, coming to a small doorway that led to a hallway.
"Hey, you," I heard a familiar Italian accent speak behind me. In return I jumped but immediately dragged him out of near sight, around the corner of the hallway.
"What are you doing here?"
"Hello to you too," Daniel raised his eyebrow at me, amused.
"It's a boy free day today."
"I was here before you came, Rachel," he teased. "Are you sure you weren't following me?"
His comment made me smile. "I could say the same to you."
"Now why would I follow you around?"
"You tell me," I spoke softly.
"Ah, yes." He pushed my waist gently so that my back was against the wall, causing my heart to leap into my mouth. "So I could do this."
I wrapped my hands around his neck. "Really?"
"I couldn't stay away." Daniel smiled against my lips, before kissing them, gently. His kiss became daring; I could feel his tongue tentatively explore my mouth and I actually had to suppress a groan. He was gentle, slow and perfect, but I pulled my head back and placed my hand on his chest, distancing him from me.
"Boy free day," I said to Daniel, although it sounded like I was saying it more to myself.
"How is that going so far?" he teased.
I stood up straight and he backed away. "Blake's going to think I've fallen down the toilet... I should go."
Daniel started to walk towards the exit.
"Hey, where are you going?" I hissed.
His eyes lit up with amusement. "Carlos is probably wondering where I've gone, too."
"Carlos is here?"
"Yes. He's just in a shop around the corner."
"I hope Blake doesn't see him. She has a lot of pent up energy..." I began
Daniel laughed softly. "I know what you mean."
I looked up at him and let a smile fall on my lips. "I'll leave before you."
"As you wish," he said as he raised his arms, signalling the exit. "Until next time."
I gave him a quick kiss and headed back into the cafe. Noticing Blake sitting on a table looking bored, I hurriedly walked over to her.
"You piss for Britain," she spoke quietly as I sat down.
"You're so charming," I teased.
"They had plain old chocolate cake, no fudge, but I didn't think you'd-" Blake stopped mid-sentence.
"What?" I said, obviously knowing who she saw.
"You wouldn't believe whose just walked out of the bathroom."
I concentrated on eating my cake. "Who?"
"Oh God, really," I said, trying to act surprised. I saw Daniel walk casually outside and around the corner, the familiar stomach roll following. I still couldn't get over the way he made me feel. It was fresh and new, something that I hadn't felt in such a long time.
I looked up at Blake who was scrutinising me. "What?" I said with a mouthful of cake.
"You didn't go to the toilet did you?"
"Of course I did!" I began, but Blake just stared at me. "I had full intention to go to the toilet."
"You're the one who wanted a no boy day. Here's me aching for some flirting and you just had it off in the bathroom," she teased.
"Had it off?" I nearly spat my cake out, so swallowed hard. "I didn't know he was in the bathroom, did I? He just came at me, with those green eyes and perfect hands and full lips..."
I looked up and Blake had a smile spreading across her face. "Boy free day not working out as well as you hoped, is it?"
I playfully pouted. "I had good intentions."
"Shattered by the Italian man."
"You can talk!"
"At least I can hold myself together, you're practically melting in with your chocolate cake," she laughed as she pointed playfully at me.
"Well, what if I told you, I knew where Carlos was right now?"
"I'd show you the art of holding oneself together," she spoke with dramatic confidence.
"Pfft," I snorted.
